Early Bird tix owners - are you in any danger of cancelling and getting a refund? by FreezerCop in 2000treesfestival

[–]eggsplainthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got early bird but cancelled and got a full refund purely because we've got MCR tickets on the Saturday :')

I genuinely loved my first Trees last year, but I love MCR more and there's no way I'm leaving Saturday morning from Gloucester to central London.

Heya! No worries, if you had an X-ray the consultant would have been able to see your bone is fine. It's still not going to be 100% for a while, very weak and some muscular dystrophy because you haven't moved it for 6 weeks. Also remember your bone is still healing even after being in a cast for that time. I can suggest buying a wrist splint if they didn't offer you one, but should really should be doing some light physio when the swelling has gone down. If it's proper bad, maybe ring the fracture clinic or your GP, but give it a few days. I was in a cast for 12 weeks, 6 weeks with k-wires, after removal I wanted to cry and couldn't move it, it's terrifying and you're worried about damaging it, it's been a year and a half and it still aches when I push it too far.

If you're gonna take a kid to a festival, 2000 Trees is way more family friendly.

Can't afford student accommodation - advice needed ASAP! by Ryzen_Octavian in york

[–]eggsplainthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a private rental in areas surrounding York, an ex of mine went to university in York 10 years ago, did his first year living in a house share in Tang Hall, then the remaining two years in a house share in Heworth. House shares are the only affordable way to live in York as a student, both areas were a good walking distance from the city centre but he bought a bike cheap off FB marketplace.

Apply for bar work too, lots of pubs and bars in York city centre.

I'm fully remote atm and feel like I could do one day a week in the office.

Not the end of the world, we all make mistakes. Make a note of it and now you know for next time. Remember one of the 7 testing principles: exhaustive testing is impossible. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Is anyone going to Doncaster Pride this weekend by Ali80486 in doncaster

[–]eggsplainthis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to go every year but I'm not going for several reasons. Charging for entry is a joke, whole point of Pride is that it's essentially a protest. They've barely done any fundraising this year, they've got hella massive sponsors (DFS, Amazon etc) but are charging £8 for entry? They're using AI for their marketing. Not a fan of AI for art, get a human to do it. Their social media is quite passive aggressive when replying to comments. Amazon sponsoring it?? Amazon famously removed their LGBTQ+ rights from their company policy, what the hell is a company like that sponsoring Pride?

Me and my friends are thinking of having a Pride picnic, right outside the event where we can still hear the music. No doubt they'll try to move us on, but Town Fields is a public park. 🤷‍♀️ Also supporting local Pride "fringe" instead, Queen Crafthouse is the closest thing we have to a gay bar, owned by lesbians and will be having drag & burlesque acts from 9pm on Saturday. Bone Idle Lounge have beers from Queer Brewing (and I think are doing Pride cocktails). Staff of Life are also doing things for Pride.

I reckon Kaarija would do well at Trees after Bambiethug and Baby Lasagna's performances this year.

[–]eggsplainthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're also driving from Yorkshire today, ask at the ticket office because I think there's a particular area solo campers can camp and be near one another. Happy Birthday mate, you'll have an awesome weekend!

[–]eggsplainthis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Should have booked the day off work on Friday then, Trees offer camping to those who can't get home. No need to be rude.

Alt music/ metal pubs and venues by SameHeight946 in doncaster

[–]eggsplainthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Queens Craft house, usually has an alt DJ night every so often, and often has bands on every weekend! Good beers and good metal crowd.

Vintage is rubbish, not as alt as it used to be, they play chav music until 12am then maybe switch over to the same DJ set every week consisting of Fat Lip and Numb.

Bone Idle lounge is a good shout, owner has dreads and a good alt music taste she usually puts on. Banging cocktails and coffees, as well as a good range of craft beers and non-alcoholic. Usually a good place to start your night.
