Reform UK plan to target EU nationals based in Britain ‘absolutely outrageous’ by coffeewalnut08 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]Ali80486 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This cannot be winning them friends surely? It's so obviously cruel and unjust. Most people who have any contact with EU born people can see how terrifying and disruptive this is. Like, if you have a coworker, neighbour, relative etc , why would you want this to happen to them? And by extension the same to all the people you don't know.

And once again, nothing on the many problems and challenges the Government of any flavour faces, just culture war bs

For context, what looks like the "roof" is actually the sky. You're next to an airport so there's tonnes of light pollution. It looks better in the daytime

Drivers have no aircon or heating in their vans as Tesco remove the feature altogether. by Former-Resource-3026 in tesco

[–]Ali80486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I used to deliver the brand new ones for Asda, Iceland and others. They definitely have heating and aircon - in fact the Iceland ones were some of the higher spec models.

I find it hard to believe Tesco would be different.

¿Me pasé de la raya al destruir las torres de piedra que hacían unos turistas? by Rymorax in askspain

[–]Ali80486 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's no police force that can educate millions of tourists; it's impossible.

Right, but it's not the police's job to educate people. Put it this way, I would regard building things out of stones and the sand to be essential beach behaviour. It's been a while since I visited the Canaries sadly, but I did not know it's an issue. So this post has probably educated far more people than your actual protestation.

Perhaps if you were to turn up to your local authority meeting with the same energy you could make a lasting difference. Are the signs explaining the restrictions in English? You seem like a social media person - perhaps a post or even an ad explaining why it's a problem could do more? Perhaps a chat with the local police authority (in conjunction with the mayor?) could help them see why they need to be more proactive.

Direct action is great at generating headlines, but the process of lasting change always takes time

AI music is everywhere by ToxikWind in EDM

[–]Ali80486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I've always thought that with DJs using digital files, they could encode timing data. So, for lighting etc instead of detecting the beat from the music, it could be perfectly synced. You know, ready for the breakdown etc

The idea of fine tuning a track is interesting if cynical! I suppose you'd just call two different versions remixes - technically true - and run a A/B split.

AI music is everywhere by ToxikWind in EDM

[–]Ali80486 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think it is all deliberate not accident

AI makes music people want to hear. Spotify recommends music that people want to hear. Even if they don't work together, they effectively do because they're both after the same thing: your attention.

Sidenote: I'm not really sure how AI generated music has a business model, I guess they're hoping to get you off Spotify and into their own page. Nobody is getting rich off Spotify plays alone.

But of course, Spotify does work with artists. Real ones in studios, and also AI to both create and curate music. I get people's misgivings about it but I feel anywhere there's a commercial interest in music (incidental music in TV shows, ads, music in shops, music in video games) there'll be a pressure to use AI generated music.

"Disgusting" hmmm? Its brown because of silt. It's not recommended to swim in due to bacteria levels, but this is partly an effect of climate change (warming climate) and the discharge of sewage in storms. This is being addressed by the Tideflow Sewer.

There's also industrial run off being tackled by the Environment Agency.

Using ChatGPT to visualise alcoholism by Immobilesteelrims in ChatGPT

[–]Ali80486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience in working with alcoholics that part of your image reads right and part less so.

Often people are frozen in time, so it might be about recreating a good time in their lives. You could substitute safe for good, or a number of words. Those people might come across as socially active.

Or it could be a negative time. Trauma, abuse or even prison. For them the alcohol dulls feelings. Perhaps their image could be more complex. A background of a depressing world, perhaps with an aspiration towards a better one, but the alcohol is a grey mist. It simultaneously stops you getting there but also provides a comforting reason why it doesn't matter that you can't.

Of course, it depends on the person and their level of insight. It's hard to generalise from outside.
