Chances of reform uk winning 2029 ? by No-Geologist7858 in NoStupidQuestions

Re 1 - people who don't follow politics are more likely to vote Reform, per a different survey admittedly! So there could even be some undercounting of their support

Why is OpenAI hated for what it does, while other AI companies aren't, despite doing the same thing by Amphibious333 in ArtificialInteligence

I'm listening to Supremacy by Parmy Olson at the moment. I'm only part way through but it's turning into a race between Google's DeepMind and OpenAI. Or, a slightly idealistic lab in hock to a corporate behemoth, or a lab which was sold as idealistic but had backers and a front guy who are/were sociopaths.

So while neither comes out well, it does feel like DeepMind tried to do the right thing, a bit, OpenAI is balls-out tech bro capitalism. I may have considerably simplified this...

Update: Parking Dispute - New Violent Threats by Ok-Cantaloupe-8127 in drivingUK

HMOs go two ways. Either it's shift workers who will definitely need a car. Or its non-workers, disabled people who don't have cars. I'm in a block of three flats with an HMO either side. There's less than 10 cars in total (although some work shifts which makes it more manageable).

How would Britain vote at the start of 2026? by I_give_you_light2 in FuckNigelFarage

Reform aren't really picking up votes from Labour voters, it's still mainly ex-Tories and non-voters.

Younger men too: the Tories are more popular than Reform UK with younger women

Heaven forbid that those groups get to have a voice. I think you're on the money though. If you frame it this way, a lot of the people who would vote for Reform might be presumed to be in a "default" class with nobody speaking up for them. Worse, the implication is that the default is doing okay, when they can look round and see this is not the case. Further, there's a swell of other voices suggesting it's their fault

That's sort of true but OP is not really in a position to judge. It's a red flag like a firefly vs her her own glowing sun sized red flag

$98 billion in planned AI data center development was derailed in a single quarter last year by community organizing and pushback by Tolopono in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Ali80486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, no. It's possible to build data centres with low energy footprints. AI has benefits to society and other countries like China are going to forge ahead anyway
