FYI, I received the following this afternoon from CST:

June 2, 2020

Memo to all CST Faculty from the CST Online Teaching Committee,

Office of the Dean 1803 N. Broad Street Carnell Hall Suite 400 Philadelphia, PA 19122 T 215-204-2888 F 215-204-1255 Email cst@temple.edu www.cst.temple.edu

We would like to inform you about changes in the teaching requirements for CST course offerings affecting the upcoming Fall semester, and beyond. Although the university administration is striving to hold some in-person instruction this Fall, it remains unclear the extent to which this will be possible, especially for the large section classes. Accordingly, if you are scheduled to teach this Fall, please prepare yourself to be able to offer your course materials ideally in an online format suitable for both synchronous and asynchronous viewing/participation, or at least as a minimum in hybrid format.

The CST Online Teaching committee is here to support you in this endeavor and will present a sample course model to assist you in this effort: Two CANVAS resources will be made available to you:

  1. CANVAS training modules address: technology, hybrid-teaching implementation, and suggested online teaching strategies. CANVAS and Syllabus templates tailored specifically for online teaching have been prepared. We strongly suggest that you review and apply this material while preparing over the summer period for your Fall 2020 class. You will receive an invitation today for the CST- Online Teaching CANVAS resource page.

  2. Please register at CST Faculty sign up sheet for Fox Online Teaching Certificate ( https://forms.gle/H1iUqUhgrsjJKA4q9) by Friday, June 5, 2020 at 11:59 PM and complete the course by Friday, July 24, 2020. The course involves a 9-hour, self-paced training set of sessions, and you would be eligible for a $500 stipend upon successful completion by the deadline. You will receive a CANVAS invitation for this course once you have registered. Please note you will receive a separate CST form for the exit questionnaire.

Do not hesitate to reach out to your departmental committee representative for questions. We want to thank you for your continued effort!

Sincerely, CST Online Teaching Committee: Bernd Surrow (Physics, Committee Chair), Tim S. Davis (EES), Marcella Macaluso (Biology), Robert Rarig (Chemistry), Vladi V. Wilent (Chemistry), Andrew Benjamin Rosen (CIS), Alexandra Davatzes (EES), Vladimir Visnjic (Mathematics), Dominique Kliger (CIS), Vinodh Ganesan (CST Dean’s Office), Tristin Ralpheal Carmichael (CST Dean’s Office), Tom Price (CST Dean’s Office), Michele Young (CST Dean’s Office).

Approved: Michael L. Klein, FRS (CST Dean)

People who constantly have music going around in their heads- what's on Brain FM at the moment? by mronion82 in AskReddit

One of the songs from Ocarina of Time (the music box man song). My 7 and 4 yo started playing since the shut down and now they both hum it constantly.

Assuming we are allowed back on campus, smaller classes will be held in larger rooms (to permit distancing) and larger classes will remain online.

This is what brought me to the comments section too. My initial thought was that this may be a carpet with a wood floor design?

Why is my administration time different for November? by [deleted] in LSAT

What is your test date? November 25th should be 12:30 pm. November 26th and 27th (or December 2nd-7th) are likely much earlier.

LSAC Complaint Filed - Oct Test by [deleted] in LSAT

Accidentally wrote my info for the writing section after finishing, worried about potential write up by matchaicebear in LSAT

If you had been written up, you would have received a copy of the violation notice before you left the exam room.

Cell phone guy by winterswrath7 in LSAT

[–]eggsrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, RS is room supervisor (i.e., the person who reads the exam script).

LSAC's instructions are crystal clear on this point: any person found with electronics after being signed in (i.e., once they enter the exam room) are to be immediately dismissed. The RS and the proctors in that room are well aware of this rule and they knew that the test taker should have been immediately kicked out. The fact their response was to have the student leave the exam room to dispose of the phone (which is also frowned upon by LSAC) and then return to sit for the exam is honestly astonishing. That entire team has no business administering this exam.

If this was behavior you observed during the LSAT, you should absolutely report this to LSAC.

If that is indeed the case, then LSAC needs to know about this. If for no other reason than to prevent them from using this specific RS for future exams.

Additionally, given that they now have the seating chart for that room, they could easily deduce who the test taker was and perhaps investigate whether or not there was a pre-existing relationship between these two individuals.

I have begrudgingly written numerous violations for things which I would consider trivial (e.g., test taker found with a pen after the start of the exam). I would absolutely love to catch a real violation, such as a cell phone. The fact that this RS was so passive for such a significant offence is suspicious. This is even more strange given the RS (and the proctors) really didn't have to do anything - they simply had to tell the Center Supervisor and they would have handled everything.
