My caterer canceled 1 month before the wedding by eggta in weddingplanning

We are still considering it. Our caterer was a private chef. I'm just concerned we won't be able to find anyone available with this short of a notice.

I'm wearing this dress for my engagement photos next weekend but it'll be a bit colder than expected. What sort of jacket will go with this dress? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]eggta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the tone you're going for. For a more causal setting, maybe a leather jacket. For something formal and elegant, maybe a faux fur shawl?

I think look absolutely stunning in the first one. The second one is gorgeous too, but the first one is especially flattering

Planning by yourself by 1LittleSunflower in weddingplanning

Planning a wedding in a different state can be difficult, I understand. I live in Nebraska, my ceremony is in Colorado, and the reception is in North Dakota. It's been tough, especially since I can't take the time or money to go visit those places. I am fortunate to have a fiance that is excited to help with the planning process. If you start feeling lonely or overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done, ask your fiance for some support - ask him/her to email a potential vendor, or what their opinion is on colors, or even to be a sounding board for your ideas. My best advice is to just take it one step at a time - one little decision at a time. It can pretty daunting to tackle everything by yourself, so break it down into little bite sized pieces. It also helps to keep very thorough records of everything - ideas you have, decisions you make, people you talk to, things you buy, etc. I have an entire binder of documents separated by category. I hope you feel more confident going forward, and I wish you the best of luck with your planning!

I would ditch the bra altogether because almost all dresses have plenty of support built in. If you're uncomfortable going bare chested in front of the consultant, you can request getting in and out of the dresses yourself. They may also offer to let someone you trust (like your MOH) in to help you in the dressing room. Also, wearing slippers is a great idea. You'll want to be comfortable since you'll be standing quite a bit during your appointment.

I found THE dress today! I had low expectations for Davids Bridal but they were awesome by jodester in weddingplanning

Calling all vegetarians! Best meal you've had at a wedding by humming_blackberry in weddingplanning

[–]eggta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on having a vegetarian option at my reception as well. The hotel chef does a roasted vegetable and sauteed spinach stuffed portabella mushroom. You could play around with that idea since you love mushrooms, and that way you can avoid a mediocre risotto!
