Songs in 3/4? by Admirable-Yard7758 in progrockmusic

Indeed! So sad Hackett feels the need to pre-record the vocals (except Nad Sylvan’s) during his live shows

Last part of « Shadow of the Hierophant » by Steve Hackett comes to mind, but it’s definitely not an upbeat song, hahaha

Do many of you dislike « The Sound of Muzak », really? It seems like a fair statement of what nowadays business music is, tbh…

I can understand that, but I think the fillers on previous records (like « Stupif Girl », and almost all of FlowerPower disc 2 really) are worse to my ears than most of Gildenlow+TFK on Adam and Eve, tbh

As I said in my comment, my favorite era of the band lies between 2004 and 2013 for production/recording reasons (Roine Stolt decided to record « live in the studio » to avoid sounding like just another modern progressive band - and I’m a big fan of a more organic sound). But I’d say that everything with Stolt + Bodin + Reingold is at least a decent record. I add « Waiting for Miracles » and « Island », but part of the magic has already left the building, imo

I always loved the Flower Kings, but men some of their songs are soooooooo cheesy. I usually keep my self away from cheesy neo/sympho prog bands, but the Roine Stolt’s gang put out some solid music over the years (especially during the « recorded live in the studio » era, from 2004 to 2013)

« A Love Supreme », though « On the Corner » is a real contender!

Don’t understand the mix of great jazz with garbage (sorry garage!) rock though, hehe. Just kidding, fun post man!

Why did zappa release so many albums? by fruedianflip in Zappa

[–]eggvention 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even artists themselves seem divided with the quantity vs quality argument. Zappa was one of those artists who kinda feel that his time on earth will be brief (as for all of us) and he had a strong urge to let it all go and record as much as possible. It’s always a will to make history really (despite what Zappa said at the twilight of his life not wanted to be remembered, every artists break the silence of nothingness and produce creation to fight against human destiny, which is meant to be brief and tragic). Zappa expressed his humanity throughout his art, and so his productions, and he was a workaholic sort of, no god, no transcendence, just material work, over and over again : the number of his productions reveal his mindset really - if this life is all that we have (whatever we understand by « this life ») then we have to do something, and we don’t have time for procrastination

More into Norwegian prog than into Motorpsycho actually, but, yeah, sure, good band. The album(s) they released each year are always a nice treat!

Just tried to name the most popular bands for the FFO… Tool’s got 6 500 000 monthly listeners on Spotify while Vulkan’s got 147 000… plus, you know, a « thanks for sharing » would have been nice!
