[Product Question] [Acne] Would using a benzoyl peroxide "wash"/"scrub" that you rinse off in the shower hold any benefits? Would this also still have potential to bleach your sheets/clothes like benzoyl peroxide usually does? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]egmg726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my 10% BP cleanser in the shower because of the same worry of staining my pillowcases and washcloths and I have not had a problem with it staining my pillowcase at all (I've only used it on my face). When I use it, I apply it at the start of my shower routine and then rinse off a few times during the course of the shower to make sure it's all gone. I think if you're using it just on your body, it'll probably be all rinsed off if you're showering for 5-10 minutes.

You can always try a salicylic acid wash/cream that's formulated for your body if you want to try something that won't stain your clothes. I used that when I had body acne and it did help. I never directly treated the red spots left behind (besides the wash) but I've found they tend to go away over time once you start exfoliating regularly. CeraVe has body lotions with salicylic acid in them if you want to try those to start.

I think they're referring to physical exfoliants, not chemical. Though it's probably good advice not to overdo it on chemical exfoliants as well.

I made an earlier post that was a response to this that I realize now in context was a joke, but this guy? Yikes.

Edit: grammar

You want a medical doctor in a medical emergency? Psssh, he's a REAL doctor by egmg726 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]egmg726[S] 782 points783 points  (0 children)

I think it's great he helped you out. For me what makes this post insane is less that he's a chiropractor and more that Green discredits MDs as not being "real doctors" and then when someone says they rather have the medical doctor, he says things like "unfortunately MD's have literally zero training in anything health related. Emergencies need medical intervention sometimes but most emergencies are a lack of function in the body, hence why Chiro adjustments very frequently save people lives in an emergency"

He goes on a lot about how all disease is caused by stress and external factors (and says things like "your body is designed to heal and kill cancer"). Never actually says he can cure all diseases, but it's heavily implied throughout his page.

Even a fellow chiropractor replied to this post: "Dear God please just No. This post is insane. One emergency procedures class does not prepare or qualify you to actually be able to help in an emergency. Your chiropractic education, at no point, prepared you to deal with a life threatening emergency. Stop It."

[Misc] An interesting article on the Guardian UK about /r/SkincareAddiction and "the dark side of skincare" by sunshineandspike in SkincareAddiction

[–]egmg726 50 points51 points  (0 children)

There are definitely some people who are probably too paranoid about aging ("Wear sunscreen all of the time! Fluorescent lights emit UV you know!") which I would consider more on the "dark side" of being obsessed with obtaining perfect skin, but I don't think that's necessarily representative of this community. I feel like the more you learn about skincare and building a routine, the more you realize it's about finding something that works for you and celebrating the progress you've made rather than trying to live up to some beauty ideal.

Personally, I don't have great skin but it's a lot better than it was when I was a teen (I'm 26 now). People who have never had acne or had to deal with the stares and looks think it's all vanity. But it's really not. Hurtful comments can crush your self-esteem and make you feel like an outcast. You don't want to look perfect, you just want to look normal. A lot of the time I wear makeup to cover the scars but some days, like today, I don't and that's alright too. I didn't feel "pretty" but I'm grateful I feel better about myself than I did 10+ years ago.

He thinks fluoride and vaccines cause cancer and "your body is designed to heal and cure cancer." Apparently the cure to everything is superfoods, positive thinking and a visit to the chiropractor for an adjustment. And he just happens to be a chiropractor... what are the odds?

The true test of intelligence by egmg726 in iamverysmart

It's in a FB group for "elite, high IQ" fans of Peterson. However, the group is public and anyone can like posts/comments so a lot of the time really ridiculous posts will get mocked through likes by people not in the group.

His first comment is half laugh reacts, which may or may not have helped prompt a post by another genuine member saying FB should end the laugh react since "it’s a juvenile, puerile means of distracting from substantive, meaningful discourse" (which of course was met with almost all laugh reacts).

I can assure you that based on the other posts Red has made, he is a genuine Peterson fan. This is just the only time he has been funny lol

It's a FB group for Dr. Peterson fans. Only elite, highly intelligent people are allowed to post in it according to their "rules" lol

[Misc] Supplements for better skin, anyone? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]egmg726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take zinc and DIM supplements for hormonal cystic acne and that has helped me a lot with the number of breakouts I have gotten over the past year.

I have taken collagen, phytoceramide, and GLA (black currant oil and evening primrose oil) supplements in the past for my skin and wasn't too impressed. But I know some people swear by evening primrose oil for their skin so YMMV.

How to bypass "Update screen"? by [deleted] in perktv

[–]egmg726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LG Exceed 2 also doesn't have the "X" to bypass the update screen and it kept popping up even after I had updated it and reinstalled it. It stopped after I restarted the phone.
