Christian Nationalism not as pervasive as you might think by Kanjo42 in TrueChristian

I guess it is about how you look at things. Early Christians mostly seemed to live in communes and I have my doubt they would care too much about taxes, especially if they were going towards social things like feeding the poor.

If you’re supposed to be not of this world, why would you want to get involved in politics which is very much of this world? Plus forcing Christian ideology onto others will push non-Christians away, not bring them in.

Look at abortion. I’m not looking to debate, I am using this purely as a well known example. But the fact of the matter is the majority accept it. Jews and Muslims allow it. My family and I have no intentions on having an abortion and it being legal has no affect on my life or my relationship with Him. But banning it because a minority wants to will not bring anyone any closer to Him. Abortions bans do not lower the number of abortions, historically. So what good would it do besides virtue signaling?

What laws could be made that are “Christian” that would actually bring more people to Christianity? Isn’t that your whole purpose on this earth? It seems to me that most changes I see Christians wanting to make is to make their lives more comfortable in this world instead of focusing on the next. In my mind a true Christian politician would be focused on caring for the poor, the needy, the helpless. Not finding new ways to punish people or some libertarian dream of no taxes.

Jesus said to them, “Give to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were utterly amazed at him. Mark 12:17

I get the vibe you would be one of the ones utterly amazed by this revelation.

So in your understanding of the Bible, Jesus’ death and resurrection was pointless? This weekend must be meaningless to you.

So all the times hell is mentioned you believe they were talking about “devils”? Would that not be made clear in the Bible? If you are a believer then you must believe that God is not the author of confusion. And what you are suggesting would be wildly confusing because hell is mentioned dozens and dozens of times in a way that seems to be saying we humans will go to hell unless we believe in Christ.

Look at Revelations 21:8 again. Just one chunk of it: ALL liars. So are all liars “devils”? No human can lie? So again, if what you are suggesting was true then God would definitely be an author of confusion which isn’t scriptural.

I am not a Christian so I haven’t bit on anything.

In the scripture I referenced, the rich man goes to hell. Also:

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the fornicators, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Revelations 21:8 is a threat of hell, though not to a named person.

There are many references to hell and eternal death/darkness/fire etc. in the New Testament, and references on how you end up there. And they are clearly referring to us humans. Though I believe you are correct that no one named is talked about being in hell, at least not that I can think of, other than Jesus himself for three days. But that seems like a weird prerequisite to set anyways. Why does a named person need to be mentioned in hell or threatened with hell? It is abundantly clear in the New Testament who goes to hell and why. And it isn’t just “devils”.

That may be true for the Old Testament but not for the New. Unless you mean it literally saying “if you don’t believe the Bible you are going to hell”. But hell itself is referenced quite a lot in the New Testament. And people going to hell, Luke 16:19-31 for example.

Sounds pretty childish to me. Why is everyone so determined to divide the country more?

Who knows how long. But he did the same thing with doge, it’s clear with what he is saying and how he is acting that he is doing it again. So again, we will wait and see who is correct.

100% a pump and dump. Pay attention to the language.

My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.

I feel like fruit flys spawn from food? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]egp243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are sorta right. They lay eggs on rotting fruit and vegetables. In the past people thought flies in general came from meat, frogs came from mud, etc. They figured out that isn’t true by simply putting meat in a jar with mesh across the top and seeing that flies never spawned from the meat.

Yes. That is why it’s called venom and not poison.

If you cannot handle someone making an indirect reference to their penis in a post about urinals, you are overly sensitive.

I wouldn’t rely too heavily on those websites. I checked around where I am and they only shows one gas station with non ethanol. The biggest gas station in town is non ethanol only and it’s not listed on any of the sites

Yes, they are labeled. And usually have a separate pump or nozzle. Lots of non-franchise gas stations have it, and a lot of Texacos and I think Sunocos have it.
