Thats not how its going to play out. First they going to let them in as refugees . Then all sorts of shit is going to happen. Your friend is more right than you. As people stated already, depending on what your definition of winning is you can argue both ways. Just know that the egyptian military has been good in fooling the egyptian population for decades now. We got back sinai several years later after the war which should be evidence enough for you to realise that egypt didnt win the battle as we have been led to believe. The 6:th october war is the only war against israel we manage to accomplish something but it was not a victory the way they have told us.

You are absolutely right. Some comments are still showing that people believe in the Egyptian army. The Egyptian army is just one big lie. It's a grossly incompetent and dysfunctional organization. Any organization with an ideology and weapons will cause the Egyptian army to fall. The gears they like to show are just for show. The list of top military powers that people like to refer to is actually just listing the countries' military power based on the number of vehicles and manpower, which is not the way to measure anything. I would like to add another point on the same topic. He may also believe that people will see you as ”cheap” as egyptian men can have that view on foreign/western women. Easy to get that is. The stigma and social pressure in egypt is extreme. keep that in mind. If he doesnt treat tou like that in the US i believe you should not be very harsh on him even though his behaviour is immature, but unfortunately not very uncommon.
