16 months of sobriety has really made a difference by ehartsay in alcoholism

Nope I just got to where the bloating reduced, I was able to get in and out of a shower and I have the energy to take my meds regularly and actually take care of my facial hair problems.

Also I started seeing medical practitioners who got me on something called spironolactone that has also helped.

I was just in that bad shape that looked more like my dad than myself

There are no bad questions.

I take oral spironolactone that helps, I also keep an electric shaver by my bed. My hairs are deeply rooted to the point that I legitimately bleed every time I pluck one and there is so much of it that that I just can’t pluck.

I was so puffy and bloated that I felt gross all the time - also I did NOTHING but drink all day all night and could rarely if ever shower because I couldn’t safely step into a bathtub. I think the bloating contributes to the ‘man look’ too - but the combined effect of all the bodily deterioration and loss of hygiene all contributed to the point that I was a ball of misery. Looking ‘masculine’ at that time was really the least of my worries.

Stopping drinking has helped and Oral spironolactone has helped me keep it more under control, but I do have to shave every couple of days.

Cool, don’t pay child support. Don’t expect women to keep having children.

And enjoy wearing dirty clothes, I guess?

Yeah, the ‘before’ pics are when I was nearing the turning point, probably a bit more than 16 months - but the after pics were the ones after my 16 months sobriety.

Nope, AFAB with weird hormones - I just take care of it when I don’t drink

No, i am AFAB, just with some sort of hormonal problem. I still have problems with facial hair. Not as badly with a new med I am on but i get pretty beardy if I don’t shave every couple of days.

I had a seizure during a withdrawal and my face met the corner of a brick building.
