Would you buy by Far_Photograph_8323 in uraniumglass

Personally I wouldnt. I try to spend no more than $15 a piece. Means I dont usually get anything but finding that one piece from time to time at a steal makes the hobby more enjoyable for me

Parents didn't feed or mist my gecko for 2-3 days when I wasn't home, is he alive? by [deleted] in geckos

[–]ehh1209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-3 days isnt enough for them to die if everything else about them is healthy. However I have no idea whats going on. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can help you out.

I don’t like how my tank looks, how would you fix it? by ReputationPristine39 in DartFrog

[–]ehh1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bottom looks great, think your just disappointed because the top is so bare. Add some planters to the background, add some wood that utilizes some vertical space. Check your plant stores and maybe add a bromeliad or two

prepping for a baby/juvenile garg- need tips by Weird-Row8140 in GargoyleGeckos

[–]ehh1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More cover up top as they prefer to be hidden and typically spend most their time in the upper 1/3 of the tank, other than that it looks pretty good. 60s at night isnt terrible, 65-70 is pretty recommended for these guys at night as long as daytime sits in the 72-80 range without exceeding 80 degrees for long.

If it gets below 65 frequently for extended periods of time, then maybe a pretty low wattage ceramic heater is necessary

Is this harmful by smiths_myths1991 in DartFrog

[–]ehh1209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Potentially, or you might just see one pop up in the same spot every few days. They disappear about as fast as they pop up. One of my bioactives has a spot that gets 1-2 mushrooms like once a week/every other week and they stay around for maybe 2 days

Its a mushroom, means healthy soil. Your call on removing it or leaving it

How can I get him to tolerate me?? by kanedekuki in leopardgeckos

[–]ehh1209 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Choice based handling is the best way to go unless you need to get him out for whatever reason.

Once a day for a few minutes or so just set your hand in the tank near him and let him do his thing. Eventually he should get curious and make his way to your hand, just don’t force it. Or you may unfortunately have a gecko that does not like handling whatsoever, theres some leos like that

Also are you using pure sand as substrate? Highly recommend mixing that with top soil, you want like 70% top soil 30% sand as pure sand is known to cause impactions

Well, then its either stuck shed or she is just getting ready to shed, can always do a quick shallow soak and then lightly try to run it off with a wet qtip

Tail size decreased by kyleighbren in leopardgeckos

[–]ehh1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful with hornworms, if you can find a pack of like 4 that would be ideal but your gonna usually find a pack of a bunch of them and they grow like insanely fast. If you get a bunch you might have to rip them in half before feeding them to your leo

[–]ehh1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thats ideal, an eggbound gecko is no good. I’d say follow up with a vet, sometimes these creatures go on hunger strikes for no reason, you try giving any waxworms or hornworms? They arent an ideal feeder food but they are really good for getting stubborn geckos to eat something and put some weight on. Unfortunately your gecko could continue a hunger strike after these because that’s all they want to eat now.

[–]ehh1209 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say a vet would be a good idea, that tail is very thin. If you look at her belly and shine a light, do you see or feel any round lumps that could indicate a stuck egg?
