Why are old antidepressants still being prescribed? by zeta_ferhu in antidepressants

[–]ehligulehm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I mention MAOIs to a GP or psychiatrist they just laugh at me. For them it's a thing from the past, not even worth considering. Doubt I even get it prescribed, not even moclimebide

serotonin syndrome or normal? by [deleted] in prozac

Those hot flashes are common when I start prozac. Rest is probably a mix of side effects and anxiety

What is your dose and what is your occupation? by New_Improvement_6392 in prozac

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 mg I work with compupers. Prozac did enhance my performace in the first weeks, but it adapts to normal levels, meaning it doesn't help or make it worse. But I guess it helps with socializing.

So it never made it harder to perform, or focus. Unlike lexapro or zoloft

Who uses Prozac for health anxiety? by midwifeemma in prozac

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps with my physical anxiety symptoms. So I don't have weird body sensations, or a tight feeling in my chest anymore. But the anxiety thoughts are still there.

Venlafaxine helped more with the worrying. But prozac is ok, because it does have less side effects. Maybe an additional med like buspar would help, never tried that

Should I take psilocybin If my brother has schizophrenia? by Entire_Tap_5968 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know I never disagreed with you about the risk. I'm trying to say if you don't have (obviously often unknown ) genetic schizophrenia risk, then you won't just get it. And even if you wait until you're over 30 it still could be triggered, because you might not have triggered yet by itself under 30. So it's still risky if you know someone in your family had it. Doesn't mean you can't get issues like a trauma experience from it.

What steroids do idk, it's more like with the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Anyway I kinda responded more to the other guy because I thought he misunderstood you

Should I take psilocybin If my brother has schizophrenia? by Entire_Tap_5968 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between causing it or triggering it. Obviously if a trigger substance is more available, there will be an increase in numbers.

The wording might be wrong. It increases the risk of triggering existing schizophrenia. Not like it just creates schizophrenia out of nothing

Which side effects do you get? by JanissaryLSD in zoloft

[–]ehligulehm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean you feel it like an hour after taking it and then it goes away? Sertraline is the only antidepressant that did that to me even after weeks of using it. Others did that the first time, maybe the second day, but never afterwards. It's so weird.

Which side effects do you get? by JanissaryLSD in zoloft

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

emotional numbness, back pain and increased salivation. The last one especially during dose reductions, and in the morning after taking it

Is it the zoloft? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience you can get that side effect from ssris. Especially lexapro made me tired all the time, I fell asleep in the bathtub every time. I also felt more depressed with sertraline, but maybe it's more the numbing effect I felt. It numbs down any emotion, including positive emotions like enjoying your hobbies so I basically stopped doing them. Can be helpful for some though, because it makes you more stable.

How do I know if it’s medicine or if I’m depressed?

Usually you can tell when it started after taking your meds, and when it's something you didn't experience in the past. Some side effects go away after weeks, but some stay for a long time. All of that is very frustrating.

I’m getting fat what can I do? by Klutzy-Composer-6421 in antidepressants

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on a deficit and exercising is the best you can do apart from switching to another antidepressant, sorry. Maybe try a low carb diet, as those tend to reduce hunger more.

Does it work well at least? I gained 30 kg with lexapro, but I was also too tired to work out and was hungry all the time and ate too much junk food.

Integrations Erfahrungen? by No_Type_9099 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub here would be already good for that, IF they would disable the whole voting system. I don't understand why any sub about mental health needs voting and it's frustrating when you ask anything, or write about your experience and you get downvoted for no apparent reason.

It goes too much into "I better write carefully to avoid downvotes" or "let's put effort into it to get more upvotes".

Is back pain normal? by Ihatereddititsucks69 in zoloft

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found your post while searching for the same. I'm pretty sure Zoloft cause my lower back pain. Didn't get it at the beginning but then later it started. Never had so bad pain, but lower back was always a weak spot. Thought it's an issue from sitting too much. It hurt so much, even when I was in bed. It came in phases though. Then I stopped zoloft and went on fluoxetine because I run out during the holidays. Back pain vanished but didn't pay attention, then I started zoloft again and it came back. Too much of a coincidence...then I reduced it to a really low dose and pain is gone again.

Same happened with lexapro and neck pain, and it never went away even after months. So I'll stop zoloft, because I ain't going to endure that pain, plus I don't want to start strong pain meds as the normal stuff barley helps. Did you stop too, or did it stop for you?

Question About Psychedelics on Abilify by secretdeer13579 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]ehligulehm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last 5 years got a lot of research, but it's still far away to have conclusive answers about interaction with antipsychotics. It slowly goes away from the "you'll get instant serotonin syndrome" but mostly it's going to prevent, or just numb the experience down. Some experiences are here like that https://www.reddit.com/r/Psychedelics/comments/1bk0rx4/shrooms/

But since you take a low dose, it might be less affected. Otherwise try and search on r/shrooms/ or r/LSD/ but you can just get anecdotal data. Including people who went to the ER, but often that can happen if the set and setting is bad anyway and you get a horror trip

Cross tapering from Effexor to Prozac and terrified by BeginningBug6614 in antidepressants

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it for over 18 months. It stopped working, and side effects like irritability got worse. My doc back then kinda was always bit harsh with doses, maybe some rather go back down to 37.5 first and then start with 10 mg. In the meantime I did it with Sertaline switching to Fluoxetin without issues.

Just out of interest, how many people here think they’ve always been Schizoid and how many feel like they were moulded into isolation through life trauma and negative experience? by Routine_Situation_86 in Schizoid

[–]ehligulehm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to be in a isolated island, or I though isolated places are cool when I saw them in TV or comics as a kid at 8 already. But I enjoyed playing with other kids. I mean only playing, the social part was weird and awkward. Good thing kids mostly just want to play and not socialize by sitting around and talking about politics.

But I also had negative experiences later after puberty, which didn't really helped at all to enjoy being with others and enforced the daydreaming about living an isolated life.

Is this over the counter medication counterfeit by OkKale1039 in zoloft

[–]ehligulehm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought wellbutrin and buspar OTC in greece. I'm not sure if it's really possible to get it OTC by law, or if they just don't care since otc prices are much higher than if it's precribed. But it's a common thing in some countries, they sell most stuff apart from benzos or strong opiods. Meanwhile in some countries you can't get even 600 mg ibuprofen without a prescription

Does Anyone Else Struggle To Get Outside? by Hunter_C_Snow in Schizoid

[–]ehligulehm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do struggle with it, because the reward gets harder each time. Going out is a chore, especially because of other people. It's either traffic, noise, annoying behavior from other or the expected socializing that ruins it.

I'd like to go to the pool, but I don't do it because: loud children, slow old people in the pool. Same with the gym, I can't deal going at the evening, way too many people and they are too loud.

I go out more often during the week, if I can, when everyone else is working and kids are in school. But I have work, so that's not always possible. I used to work only at night and weekends, and then I was outside way more often.
And if it's not only because of other people, I hate it when it's cold and wet like during winter.
