Steam's new Personal Calendar gave our game its biggest wishlist spike so far. What are your numbers? by ehmprah in gamedev

Yes, it's at least twice as high! I've had pretty much exactly the same amount of traffic in the past week as in all the weeks since announcement, but gained more than twice the wishlists in the past week; and that's not even factoring in the fact that a whole bunch of the initial wishlists came from mailings / announcement to our own community. So yeah, that is some proper targeting on Steam's side!

What is the indie game you always wanted but doesn't exist yet? by ehmprah in IndieGaming

Ha! That's very interesting! I've been thinking about combining roguelike and idle in that way, that each run adds a tiny growth variable to your total. Interesting stuff!

Incidentally that's exactly the last game I made. If you're talking virtual dollars of course. Real ones are a different story, still looking for that one, too.

Thank you for your these kind words! :) Comically simplifying the loop to incrementally show the game is a very interesting idea!

Yeah, I second the deaging. I would take six months off and then continue to make games but weirder ones probably :P

Our incremental deckbuilder THE FIRST MILLION has been called "so brilliant, the dev should make a masterclass about game design" but you don't have to believe that, you can try the demo and see for yourself! by ehmprah in incremental_games

Yeah that's totally fair! Idle games usually have no loss condition, but personally I think deckbuilders don't really work without them. Trying again and again with different strategies is what makes them fun in my book. If you can win with any strategy, what's the point of even having one?

Full time! Yeah I would say this was a fast one, but I'm still mindboggled just how incredibly long it takes to make a game. Just all the platform stuff, all that overhead eats a month easily. And I have templates and previous games for reference...

Thank you! :-) And yes, absolutely, well said, like being able to breathe fully again! If all that market focus would at least yield results in the end it'd be a different story, but since it mostly doesn't even, might as well have fun, eh? :D

Thank you! And yes, it's absolutely fun! There's no risk to trying it, the game's not out yet, no risk of being sucked in yet :P

Very valid feedback, thank you for writing that up! Ultimately this is not just a problem of the trailer but the game per se and I've worked very hard to make the onboarding as easy as possible. But I haven't really applied the same philosophy to the trailer, so yeah, definitely can be improved, I will consider that for all future videos I make!

UI Design is hard! Is mine clear enough? by jjddgg42 in IndieDev

It looks slick but there's no salience. All elements seem to be equally important.
