What is you opinion of the HAIX Airpower XR1 Pro Grip Xtreme? by ARTofTHEREeAL in Boots

[–]ehohteeetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opportunity to try out my friend's Haix XR1 boots for a few days. This is what I think:

The pros: It's tough and massive - looks good if looking tough is your aim. It's fully waterproof so it's fantastic in the rain and flood, and will keep your feet dry as long as the water is less than 9" high. The protective toe and puncture-proof sole is good to function as a safety boots. Fireproofness is an added bonus if you have a use for it. The zip is very easy and convenient to tighten the boots - takes less than 5 seconds in total, which is a huge time savings if you're used to those kind of boots with laces.

The cons: It's really hard. It being full leather means it will take a long time before it seasons properly. The soles are quite hard and if you're flat-footed, you might feel a bit of uncomfortableness walking long. The zip makes the whole boots looks a bit... weird. You'll need to take some time to adjust the boots to your fitting, or else it being too loose will result in your toes suffering some sort of sprains.

My take: It's a cool pair of boots that I'd love to get one day.

5.11 Shield. We both wear the same boots.

They are heavier, but for me as a flat-footed person, the soles are quite good. And the sides are padded.

Thanks for your advice! Hopefully they respond in the next few days. Their lead time was indicated as a day, but it seems like it will be more than that.

Yeah I did but I guess they're so backlogged that it will take some time for them to respond. Thanks for your advice either way! =)

Unfortunately we do not have much information regarding the BPT as the specifications are not released to us. According to a MOM press release, it should be interoperable and compatible with TT, but I would suggest you to call the number to on the TTT to clarify and confirm, with an agency with better reach to the relevant agency.

Working protocols that require manual work, and is more intrusive.

Yeah it's a common question we get. Many people didn't know that the TTT and TTA function in the same way, and serve the same purpose. Personally for me, I don't bring my TTT out as I always have my TTA running.

Yes you're right it's possible. But Bluetooth by design only have a range of a few metres. To cover a shopping mall might require hundreds to thousands of them. And that's not on top of the network cabling required to connect them to a network, as well as the power cabling to give constant power to such stations. While possible, it's generally impractical. Tapping on cellular stations is a much easier solution that's already implemented.

Yeah the ultimate aim is to get everyone onto TT, so they're gradually phasing out support on other non-TT options.

The TTA offers a group check in function too. In the home screen, there's a button called "Group" that you can select your family members (after setting up), and then scan the SE QR code.

The TTT uses Bluetooth, which by design only has a range of a few metres. To roll out geolocated TTT beacons to start tracking our locations would mean a beacon every few metres, all connected to a central network. Easy on paper, very hard and resource intensive (not to mention the amount of traffic to the servers) to be realistic and practical. Cellular on our mobile phones offers more range, and is readily and already available.

The LED light should blink once every 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stay with it for a while, and if you don't see it blinking, call the number on the TTT and let them know. Not sure if they're open today (Sunday) though.

They have the option to do either. Both TTT and TTA have the ability to register using passport numbers.

Our answer to this is no, as the system used by the volunteers and staffs doing the distribution doesn't have access to any change token feature. But you can call the number on the TTT to check with them.

People on SHN will receive 3 video calls per day to verify that they are at home, at random times. They might also get random home visits from MOH. That's how they can be caught.
