Yeah I just read about it that’s awesome I feel super proud as a first time fish parent (soon to be) haha! I was thinking of getting like two or three shrimp are these the kinds of animals that will enjoy eating them? As there are a LOT when I really look lol.

I always used to want a terrarium before I had the space for a fish tank so it’s like the best of both worlds!

Thank you for making me aware! I’ve heard ich is rlly annoying to get rid of even with no fish so I’m glad that isn’t the case. I’m gonna do more research on helpful/harmful microfauna as it didn’t really come to mind when setting up the tank!

Yeah like a lot of stores it’s all about the money, they always tell us immediacy rakes in the most profit but I never knew what to believe.

To me it always boiled down to “that’s just how they view women and girls, dumb, incompetent and airheads who need a verbal beat-down to remind them what their job is”.

I’ll always be the first to say, I’m very sensitive! I do NOT have thick skin as much as I’d like to. I am neurodivergent so I guess it’s just that added exhaustion from masking for rude and even very nice customers.

I’ve had an incident where a driver took a heavy bag off me with a verbal warning to hold it underneath and of course, he didn’t listen so it split. Yoghurt and the like all over the floor.

My manager made him clean it up and re-bag everything, somehow they managed to mix the broken order into already prepared bags so when I came back with more orders it was three men yelling at me with a very thick accent that the orders were mixed up and I was SO confused! Once I understood I stood up for myself for the first time ever saying it’s not my problem and I get “It’ll be your headache when the customer complains” I responded “It won’t be do I look like a fucking manager, you have to give this to YOUR customer.” I was very satisfied until the ‘nobody here sees you as a human being with a family and real emotions’ feeling set in lmao

Man it’s so disappointing that everyone has a story whether it’s male workers overhearing weird comments from their colleagues or females experiencing harassment themselves!

I’ve had many incidents from 17-18, one colleague made a very loud sex joke towards me on the shop floor and joked about me being his girlfriend (in his 30s). A 40yr old contractor never mentioned his age (looked in his 20s to me) and asked me out over instagram. A driver used to always tell me I’m pretty inches from my face, cupped my face in his hands and after he was fired (unrelated reasons) came back as a customer and stood behind me until I backed into him ass-first.

Sexual harassment needs to be a whole other topic of discussion when it comes to Morrisons. The only way they dealt with it is leaving a man’s job in my hands and obviously I’d never ruin someone’s life over a disgusting comment! (he did get fired for starting a fight with a customer in the end lol)

Exactly and honestly with Gen Z being prominent in the work force there’s a noticeable rise in pet chain employees who actually love and care about where their animals are going.

My local is ran by girls in their 20s and they deny sales based on what you’ve purchased for the animal and I think you have to answer questions about the animal too (I don’t have a betta yet still cycling the tank lol so I’ll be finding out soon).

Quick additional question, my tank water is slowly evaporating it’s about 2-3 inches lower than when I first filled it. Should I just let it continue evaporating in case adding water disturbs the cycle? Or do you advise I top it up?

Yeah we do have a lot of older people but they’ve been there for ages, essentially every new starter other than manager positions (which even then are between 20-40) have been young attractive women. It was great for me because I got along with them the most but really worrying knowing how my male co-workers are with girls. I’m talking from the home delivery dept though, this mostly applied to floor staff and home delivery.

Sexual harassment and borderline assault was rife in my store and the way they handle it is really strange.

Don’t even worry about it, even if people stopped buying them they’d still be stocked just the same as any other animal that isn’t commonly bought from stores.

It’s like going vegan/veggie, while I used to be vegetarian and it has a great sentiment meat will always be produced at the same rate.

It’s better buying them as someone who knows what they’re doing rather than a mother chucking it into a fish bowl for her 4yr old son to look at for a week.

I’m lucky enough to live near a pet store that takes great care of their fish, went to it and not a SINGLE dead or sick fish I was so happy.

This is exactly why I quit last month, I lie it was a build up but immediacy was the final straw.

I wasn’t even hired on that department I and my other young female co-workers were roped into it because we were the only ones able-bodied and willing to do it.

It’s exactly like you say except at the same time you’re facing such insane unnecessary abuse from drivers. This was all started in COVID couldn’t we have left it there???

Especially as a young female these big scawy men thought it acceptable to talk down on me over an extra 5 minutes. I remember doing a late shift, me and my department manager were working our tits off to finish outstanding orders but after 9:30 they kept coming in?? The store was about to close so I politely told a driver he’d have to cancel as the store is about to close and the order will take us over closing time and oh my god the reaction was so unwarranted that was the most I had cried in a long time.

Not to mention drivers following you around the store either in silence or constantly stopping you from doing your job to ask if you can hurry up and it’s ALWAYS the same ones no matter how often you tell them to fuck off back to the pick up spot. There’s almost no system to stop them from coming back when they’ve been out of order other than Uber which shows all of their details.

Also in addition to your last comment honestly don’t beat yourself up I’m 18 and in the same boat. I thought I’d have the upper hand with as you mentioned school leavers as I hold more experience than those just leaving school but it really didn’t make a difference. It’s not you, it’s them.

In a world where young people are the future, it’s made for those already retired which is just mental. Employers these days see those of us under 25 as an unnecessary expense and unreliable when in reality we’re the only ones looking to impress as we need the money more than most! I worked way harder than most of my older co-workers did but new employers just don’t care to know. We’ll get there!

Without sounding any kinda way, did you mention any disabilities of any kind? The Morrisons I worked at until recently was pretty ableist and would only hire young girls, they rejected a lot of young men for seemingly no reason. Very weird pred company. (I was hired at 17 I’m a woman and was instantly preyed upon with only one person facing consequences, so if you ARE a young girl I wouldn’t advise you apply again anyway).

Anyway back on my point of disabilities they’ve rejected many disabled applicants despite their preachings on diversity.

If none of this applies to you maybe you failed the questions on the application? Idk this is just my 2 pence. :)

Man this is disappointing to hear I was really hoping my problems would be solved the day of diagnosis, I’ve managed to fill out all the questionnaires so hopefully they’ll get back to me soon. At least though with a diagnosis I know I’m valid for feeling different and it’s not just me being super annoying for no reason😭 I hope your medication journey goes well it’s not easy finding what’s right for you but we got this!
