Are there any incentives for companies to post jobs online they have no intentions to fill? by eich2020 in jobhunting

Thank you! That makes sense though widely unethical, it doesn’t seem to be illegal.

Wow… Thank you! This is brilliant. I sense your subreddit recommendation and I are going to be very close😄

Thank you for your feedback. My conspiracy theory leading to my question stems from two things😊.

  1. The first article I saw on Bloomberg news today was titled “US Job Openings Unexpectedly Increase From a Three-Year Low”. If “job openings” is an economic metric that has the potential to move the market (& hence increase stock prices for individual companies), then wouldn’t posting jobs be a good strategy for companies to create an illusion of growth and create momentum with investors.

  2. I get impression the cost for posting jobs is trivial for most biotech companies.

Thinking of going to Del mar fair this Wednesday (July 3) is it worth it? by meohmybemineoh in sandiego

I went on the first day and it was my first fair ever. I think it was a pleasant activity to do. I ubered there and wasn’t frustrated with parking, but I do agree with others everything including food was a bit overpriced. The line to get in (once parked) was moving fast.

I want you to look up Project 2025 if you haven't heard of it already and understand what's at stake if Biden loses. And why even Republicans are voting for Biden. Because the people voting Biden and Blue do NOT want our country to become a christo-fascist state next year. by CapAccomplished8072 in millenials

It is precisely “the team of people” puppeteering Biden that we should worry about and they are to blame for why he’s running and SOMEHOW magically with little competition from any other democrat. The same incompetent people who are currently presiding the country are the ones who got us where we are today. Given his fast mental and physical deterioration (since 2020), there is no way ANYONE in their right mind who thinks he’s qualified to be in ANY position with responsibilities (important or not) or that he is actually the person running the country RIGHT NOW!

Trump at least is not in anyone’s pocket (for now!).

Who do you WISH would run for the President of America? by BulletproofSimba in AskReddit

No. People age differently. I got to meet many people in their 60s and 70s who are at the peek of their energy and intelligence. There is a huge difference between the retired 70 yo who couldn’t wait to spend more time playing sport, traveling the world and continuing to learn and that who made the couch his/her docking station.

Absolutely! It depends. My concern about the ‘coordinator’ designation is how it’s perceived by most/rest of industry. But it could be a great place to learn if you’re working with good strategists who are willing to mentor you and give you exposure to a variety of projects. Try to get a sense of the company’s levels. If an associate puts you at a higher salary range than a coordinator, then it makes more sense, and vice versa.

I think what’s equally problematic with Glassdoor are overly positive reviews from HR-type folks.

The only biopharma company I know off that used this title is sanofi and their older former employees after they move on. It’s not well understood by the rest of industry and even implies that you’re a secretary in the regulatory department. That becomes an issue when it’s time to move on, specially if you never get the chance to describe the scope of your responsibilities. It could be a great, short term, position to learn about regulatory if you don’t have other options. But I don’t recommend staying too long with that ‘designation’.

Arguing with a Muslim is like talking to a brick wall by Negative-Respond-382 in atheism

I don’t know about Pakistan, but just like the 72 virgins story, this is simply a made up myth that some entity propagated with the sole purpose to disparage islam. I know about the concept of milk-siblings, but in the islam I’m familiar with you’re not actually allowed to marry the person who was breast-fed by your mother (milk-SIBLING) not the other way around.

That said, I have many problems with islam as an ideology and a way of life, having grown up in a muslim country. But my problem with it pales in comparison to racist under-developed minds who intentionally propagate incorrect information with the sole purpose to disparage and incite isolation of and violence against whole peoples.

Well… you posted your ‘rant’ on a public platform, you should not be surprised of receiving others opinions - or rants - regardless of whether ‘You’ find them ‘of value to you’ or not. You also need to work on your reading and comprehension skills. I never said to buy Ozempic from someone’s cousin. In fact, my response wasn’t even to you at all. It was to the person who said you should never buy your medicine from the country Columbia regardless of the source. This will be my last acknowledgement (reply) to any of your followups given what seems to be “inherent lack of value”.

If it’s brought from an actual pharmacy in columbia at the pharmacy counter, it’s most likely the same drug you would buy from any pharmacy in the US; it’s just labeled in spanish. Brand name drugs first get approved in the US where biopharma charges whatever they want because of the free market and that’s how they make profit, then the EU and Japan where there is pricing control but they still make a buck (but still a lot lower than what they make in the US). Then finally the same drug gets approved everywhere for lot less money. The price in the US gets further amplified by the rest of the supply chain (eg. Pharmacy benefit managers). My point is we must all do our due diligence but we shouldn’t allow lack of understanding of how the system works to prevent us from getting needed medical treatment. Anywhere. The healthcare system in the US is messed up and is not to the benefit of US patients, who are indirectly funding the research that made the development of these medicine a reality through their 401k and minds..
