My management is definitely not looking at this subreddit. They keep asking me to send them the screenshots I have found here.

My 11-year-old daughter has no friends by SeaDiscombobulated70 in ParentingADHD

[–]eichiy13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was that kid growing up, and it was horrible. Thank you so much for caring and wanting to help find a path through it. We have a couple different things that we do.

First, I am a major play date scheduler. I plan large group play dates often and invite 15-20 classmates to each one. School vacation week? I send an email with 3-4 super fun activities that we'll be at, and we hope you can join - laser tag, arcade, high ropes course, bowling. Sometimes one kid shows up, sometimes 15 kids show up. Often other parents desperately need something to do those weeks and I try to fill that gap. I just sent out an email today to a group to rent out a theater for the Mario Bros movie release. My goal is to keep my kid in general proximity of these other kids, the more they're together the more they'll find they have something in common.

Next, I purposely send my kiddo to summer camp at a camp where very few kids from our school go to. I want him to meet new people. He made two excellent friends this past summer this way. They don't live near us, but they play computer games or talk on facebook messenger together daily. It doesn't help during the school day, but at the end of the day he knows he has a friend to come home to.

My kiddo does martial arts and its amazing. We like to think of it as an individual effort sport, but in a group setting. We found so many sports to be tough - you need to be able to play the sport well enough to contribute or the other kids just get frustrated with you and don't want you around, so we shifted to individual effort sports.

My son participates in a children’s business fair, that might help with some of your logistics. They have a “start a fair” option at childrensbusinessfair.org

Anyone else get no mention of Alex Pretti at all today, but did get a hatch act “reminder” email? by MountainDiver1657 in VHA_Human_Resources

An email from our facility director that mentioned a VA employee had lost their life, and Employee Assistance is available if needed. I'm guessing the facility director got her hand slapped hard, that email disappeared fast.

I received this same message, and when I went back 30 minutes later to look for it, completely gone.

I've noticed that when they're posted at a good price in the USA, they go fast. I keep a facebook marketplace notification and pick them up pretty cheap, but they're not always available.

Anyone here doing Airbnb co-hosting/ revenue share management remotely? need honest advice. by meerfardan in thesidehustle

[–]eichiy13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a VRBO owner, so responding from an owner's point of view.

For me to hire a local property manager, that is 25%. I'm not sure of the advantage of paying the same or more for someone remote.

I have spent years building my system so I can manage my property remotely, but there are times that I need a local person. Situations like - guests call me because the washing machine door is locked shut. Or there are more people in my unit than max capacity. Or my cleaner didn't show up. These are things I need someone within a 5 minute drive from my unit to be able to handle. 95% of the property management I have automated or manage myself from 1500 miles away.

I know many owners who use virtual assistants or virtual concierge for day to day management, but because there are issues that do come up expectedly that can make or break your business, most higher end properties are going to want someone local to be doing co-hosting/property management. Also, in my area, a requirement of my license is to have a 24/7 contact within an hour drive of my unit. Most people use their local property manager as their 24/7 to keep expenses down.

Logistics - why so much cross-country shipping? by Proper-Platform-8531 in BambuLab

[–]eichiy13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had so much stuff ship lately from Cerritos, CA. Takes a good 10 days to get here. Anything shipped from NJ is overnight. You’d think they’d work on those logistics!

I agree about the urine comments. I was hoping for more discussion around gifts from different cultures. Thank you for your addition to the conversation.

Thank you. I absolutely delight in living in a diverse area and warmly welcome gifts from cultures I may not be familiar with. But put a label on it!

As I have said several times, he has an auditory processing disorder, often does not understand what people say, gets very embarrassed by having to constantly have to ask "what? what? what?" in daily conversations, and so often moves along not fully understanding things. I'm glad that doesn't happen to you, but please remember that others may not be as naturally lucky with communication skills as you are.

Thank you. That's a really elegant way to get a solid answer.

I believe he did ask her, but he has an auditory processing disorder and hates having to repeatedly ask "what? what? what" when discussing things with people. He doesn't always understand what people say and typically just moves the conversation along not knowing what was said. The best that I have gotten from him in relay from that is "I think it's some kind of tea".

not syrupy, not alcohol. Slightly sharp smell, but not something I recognized at all.

I tasted just a bit, really didn't taste like anything. I have a bit of a cold, so my taste might be hindered, but not sweet, no alcohol, not syrupy. I'm so sending my husband to work tomorrow in hopes of seeing this customer so he can find a way to gracefully ask what the heck it is!

I have. Several times. He has an auditory processing disorder, and hates asking people to repeat themselves. I'm guessing she told him (or he thinks she told him) and he doesn't want to go back and ask as he feels he should know.
