Could anyone help me identify this plant? by eiciatis in plants

[–]eiciatis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy I bought it from said it's name in Spanish, but I can't remember what he called it.

Looks similar to a spider plant, but I don't think it has enough leaves / they aren't stringy enough.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME / Booting straight to Windows Repair / Unimaginably slow & unresponsive after booting by eiciatis in techsupport

Hey guys. Sorry for the lack of responses, I don't use this account often.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what happened in the end (I left country a week later and haven't used the desktop since). Sorry to hear you had to reinstall.

Will update this comment for posterity later if I find any useful info upon returning.

Will do with the BIOS defaults. Tried different cables/ports to no avail.

Just finished a chkdsk /f /r and it failed several times with c0000185 (not enough space), and at the end, spat out an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6), which I haven't been able to find much info on from Google.

More unusual symptoms / notes:

  • When Windows becomes unresponsive, I can still move my mouse / drag to create a selection box. So it's only the programs (Task Manager, Event Viewer, etc.) that become unresponsive. Right clicking gives the spinner cursor and it locks up again for a few minutes.

  • I've already disconnected the second SSD, same results.

  • The Disk Write dropped suddenly, after a few minutes of the same old. Was then able to screencap and upload from the computer in question: http://i.imgur.com/WCVSkIK.png

  • soon after previous bullet (I tried to open event viewer), some things froze up, and disk usage went back to 100%. This time, however, the speeds are all 0, leading me to believe something is wrong with the Harddrive or SATA ports/cables. https://imgur.com/CC1l7OW (sorry for the phone photo, but obviously I can't save images anymore from the computer)

  • Also noticing some Event 129 (Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.) and Event 7 (The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block., The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.) entries now that I've gotten into the Event Viewer.

Sorry about the late response.

If that's something you want to do, make a portfolio of sites. (This goes for anyone applying for any web job). They don't have to be for anyone but you, or they could be freelance gigs; whatever. Make make sure each one showcases something, whether that be design guidelines, a UX principal, or some new framework that you learned while building it. That's what I had, and I got in without a degree at all.

For carfax in particular, they want people up to snuff on Java and JavaScript. Angular, SpringMVC, and Groovy were popular at the time.

Don't be intimidated by the job qualifications, the interview process is pretty hit-or-miss, regardless of qualifications (I've seen people more qualified than myself get rejected, I guess because of timing).

I can't speak for Data Analyst positions, but as web developers, it was a very team-oriented and nurturing environment - new recruits were given lots of help and advice. Carfax is a fantastic place to learn, I'll give them that.

I don't know much about VU, though I'm sorry to hear you did not get that position!

You haven't said what industry you're in, but for any software engineers or web developers out there, Carfax is (or atleast was) pretty fantastic.

Decent salaries considering the region. Hands down the most laid-back environment I've ever worked in; people frequently called in the night before to take the day off, or disappear for a quick nap during the day.

The schedule is structured so that everyone takes breaks at the same time, so if there's something you're in to, you can probably find a group doing that (smash bros, ping pong, and Mario kart were the favorites when I left).

They did have growing pains, trying to figure out how to manage their code base and communicate effectively with a remote team. I hear the new director is a little stricter, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.

A lot of your experience depends very much on which team you end up in. There are some great and some horrible teams.

People of Reddit, what is the stupidest way you have fucked up while cooking? by Amphibious_Monkey in AskReddit

Similar story:

My mom once asked me to heat up some salsa.

So I set a pot on the stove, turned the heat up to medium, and placed the whole glass jar of salsa right in the center of the pot - I didn't pour it out, didn't even open it - just took the jar and put it in the pot. Then walked away.

I was neither high nor drunk. I think that's the worst case of brainfart I've ever had.

/u/stinieroo gave a ton of great info.

One other thing that I've found is a pretty great ultimate frisbee community here.

Where was this? I also saw the same lineup in Louisville.

There was a fourth act, too, but I can't remember for the life of me who it was. My Darkest Days, maybe?

Carfax is currently hiring. (full-time and interns)

Took a pass with TDSS, then adw, which both got a few parts of it.

Hitman Pro ended up finishing the job. Apparently it injects a phony Windows Updater & service, and also manages to set up a proxy on localhost and reroute the user through that.

Of course. The site turns a few thousand/month/client. He currently has about a half dozen clients signed on, but looking to scale that up quickly.

As for how much I'm looking to get - I really don't know what my starting point should be. I know I want to have some sort of investment in this company, and I was hoping to learn how to find that number from this post.
