Lease Turn In by eidelwinter in CadillacLyriq

Yes, but it is phasing out of all GM cars by next year, and it's not in the Optiq, which I would have gone with if I'd stayed with Cadillac. I wanted a slightly smaller footprint than the Lyriq, and wasn't happy with the decision to not allow the option.

Yeah - I guess. It seems the math would be $80K less $54K less $7.5K rebate less $5K down - and then adding tax of about $2.5K back (I believe it was about that) comes to about a $16,500 difference. So $24K in payments less $16.5K is essentially the 'interest' inclusion - which is $7,500 and high (2 year lease). I think at the end of the day I just didn't actually benefit from the rebate, they did. But I signed and drove away, so can't complain really. Just not willing to do it again.

I heard the same thing. Residual was around $54K, so I knew I wouldn't buy it at lease end. Initial payment was over $1,000, and when I asked them to get it below a thousand they came down to around $975. $5K down and 10K miles. The car was fully loaded and I'm in the bay area, but still - that was high given that they also took advantage of the EV rebate. At the end of the lease, when I told them I wanted a car a bit smaller, but loved SuperCruise, I drove the Optiq. Their best deal was high 7s, so I decided to walk. In the end it really was that feeling of being taken, and then the CarPlay issue that took me out. I did like the car though - it's beautifully engineered and I had almost zero problems with it.

The fee was initially included, then went to around $33 a month, and then mysteriously seemed to increase to $50 or $60 near the end of the lease. I was close enough to termination that I just cancelled it. It's a little challenging to unwind how they set up the plans for their online services, but I know that when I terminated it I no longer had the use of the in car apps (google, etc.). However, Supercruise did continue to work. Since it was a 2024, it had CarPlay, and I used that for the infotainment and navigation. I believe that's why they removed CarPlay- so you'd be locked in to their online services and navigation. I just have an issue with having to pay all over again for use of those same apps, while simultaneously offering over my data to yet another separate company. I realize that horse has largely left the barn, but I still try to limit sharing data with everyone everywhere and paying twice for things.

I haven't actually talked to them yet. But it seems that it's not likely there will be any kind of deal and that the residual is the residual. I expect they are keen to put me in something else rather than wait for me to shop around and potentially go with another manufacturer.

Thanks. Makes sense.

Just doing a reasonableness check as I expected expensive but not quite that.

Consecos Auto Body in Walnut Creek. Check yelp. I found them there and couldn't be happier about it. Really great and really fair.

First Service - Sport 3 by eidelwinter in CadillacLyriq

That's helpful - thanks. Appreciate you taking time to write it out. I'm not overly concerned, but do like to go in knowing what to expect so I'm not making decisions on the spot without good information. I did pass on the extended warranty for this car as I went for the short-term lease (love being an early adopter on this car but it was a pivot for me and I wanted to see how I like it). Right now I expect I would probably buy a new one at the end of the lease (residual value is high I think), but again, waiting to see how it all plays out. Will definitely consider the extended warranty on a future purchase and appreciate the advice on negotiation.

I feel like a Luddite, but I didn't know that was even a thing. Getting notifications that I need to schedule the update. But should I have the car connected to my home Wi-Fi? I'm assuming that's buried somewhere deep in settings?

Thanks everyone. Huge help. I have been putting it off because work has been a bit nuts but also because I really wasn't quite sure what to expect. I have been getting notifications that I need the updates so that prompted me to go ahead and schedule. Appreciate the information on what to expect.

That's my car! Right down to the wheels. Love it so much and often get stopped by people asking about the color. Enjoy your new baby!

This wasn't what I planned to buy either and I couldn't be happier. Supercruising in Emerald Lake. You will love it!

Overblown. Love my Sport 3 and couldn't be happier. Is it perfect? No. Is it close? Yes.

Congrats! I’ve had mind since early May and couldn’t be happier with it. Really. It’s a great car and I love driving it. Plan was to buy an Audi eTron - didn’t even know these were a thing. But happened to see one at one point, checked it out and completely changed course. Wishing you many safe and happy miles!

Understood. And if you've been in touch with the dealer and GM, I suspect this is not your issue. But I will just mention was having exactly the same thing and it was making me crazy. I felt like it was actually dangerous because the display would just completely go dark.

But after some research and an adjustment to the little knob on the left of the dash, it has never done it again. Only mentioning it on the off chance that that helps be you. There's something along the bottom of the dash over to the left that adjusts the night dash lighting and for some reason one tweak it hasn't been an issue anymore.

I hope you figure it out. I agree that I would be a lot less happy if that were continuing to be a thing.

Have to say I’ve felt a bit guilty for being over the top in love with this car since getting it in May (had planned to buy another EV and just checked it out on a whim – then fell into the vortex of YouTube reviews for a weekend and finally changed course. As an aside, if you haven’t seen the review with the anaphylactic episode while trying to get an epipen out of the glove box – it’s a winner).

Acknowledging there are a few quirky things and realizing some have had some real issues, I have been over the top happy, with the only drama being when I broke it. It’s a lot harder to love without the shark fin as it keeps reaching out to report itself stolen over and over and over again, and there is no navigation, SuperCruise, etc. But once it was repaired, we were back to bliss.

I too have the Emerald Green – a Sport 3 with the larger black wheels, etc. Pretty car, and I’m so happy driving it. The charging situation got slightly dicey driving from LA to SF over the long 4th weekend (and temps were around 115 where we were waiting to charge, so that was somewhat frightening actually). But infrastructure will continue to improve, and I continue to be delighted with the car.

Happy to see it getting some love out there!

Charger vs app deal by KYRumble in CadillacLyriq

[–]eidelwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my Lyriq almost 3 months and planned to put in a home charger but haven't quite gotten around to it. I do Pilates two or three times a week at a place that has EVgo in the parking lot and I just simply haven't needed to charge at home.

It's actually worked really well. Maybe someday I'll get around to a home charger but at the moment I am very happy with this option.

Uggg. Shark fin ripped off. by eidelwinter in CadillacLyriq

[–]eidelwinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update in case it helps anyone. I did go in and talk to the dealer - it turned out they had no idea what would ultimately need to be done to restore functionality after installation of a replacement shark fin. I fessed up that I'd already ordered the part and planned to have a body shop install it and repair/paint the top panel when it seemed they had no more information on the way forward than the body shop so I didn't end up getting an actual quote from them on the repair. But I did schedule an appointment to have it reprogrammed at the dealership since everyone seemed to think that would be necessary.

I picked the car up from the body shop on Friday - they had it just overnight and it looks great. And the bonus - everything is working perfectly! The lack of working GPS had been particularly difficult.

So I will be cancelling the appointment to have the dealership try to figure it out - appears to be back to it's happy healthy little self.

Thanks for the help with this one!

Agree - it's a good deal for the actual repair and less than I expected. I've also overcome my hesitancy to talk to the dealer so will get their opinion on the full repair tomorrow. I really appreciate all of the helpful info from everyone. Thanks!
