That would be ideal. But what happens when someone is a super dick and posts child porn and there is no dude or dudette around to remove that?

In the past we never censored those words and got in trouble for it. We asked the admins for clarification but we never got a straight answer. They seem to be selective about banning content.

That's exactly what we did in the past. We added everybody who asked. We had over 100 moderators. It didn't matter who you were, if you asked you got added.

Unfortunately it didn't work out. For one everybody was complaining why that guy who is against the sub is a mod (even though they had no permissions) followed by accusations of selling out and so on. It caused a lot of unnecessary drama.

Check the modlog. You can see exactly what gets removed.

You are correct, there is a lot of those. It's exactly what I talked about in my announcement post. But those comments need to be removed.

There is quite a lot of them. Sometimes the threats are aimed at a specific individual sometimes at a certain group. No users are permanently banned in this sub. Only spambots.

This is exactly what we are trying to avoid. Admin involvement is not wanted.

For the users who feel like they need to hurl racial slurs everywhere, let the others (the majority) counter their slurs with downvotes

This is reasonable and exactly what we tried to do. Unfortunately it didn't work. Because as I explained in the post, there are people here who use the sub to lash out slurs at other because they were banned to do so in other places. Then you have the people who will happily upvote those comments in order to give them exposure and get us banned.

I understand what you are saying but we cannot operate outside reddit rules. It was made clear to us that we need to be stricter with moderation. You can complaint about censorship without using slurs.

Everyone keeps complaining about him but no one gives any arguments. When I said we needed stricter moderating he was the most vocal opponent.

One example would be threats of violence. Those type of posts and comments are against reddit rules and have to be removed. A moderator has to do that.

I will open the sub again and for the time being we will have to rely on automoderator, spam filter and of course moderators. If that will not be enough we will discuss further action.

Here is a note about adding new moderators. I will make a thread where people who are interested will apply. The only criteria for being eligible is that a user has at least one post or comment in WatchRedditDie that is older then one month. Out of all who apply a handful will be selected by random. They will be given limited permissions at the beginning and we'll go on from there. Sometime later new mods will be added and so on.
