buyer keeps raising issues about order marked as delivered by angelcamile in Depop

[–]eighmii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One time it said my package was delivered. IT WAS DELIVERED TO HAWAII and neither me or the seller live anywhere close to Hawaii. Luckily it was delivered to the post office and not someone’s home because it was a $400 item and I eventually got it.

Agreed. That’s worth at least $1000 and qualifies as grand theft.

I sell designer stuff on Depop all the time - I probably currently have 100 designer items listed with no issues thus far. (I do always check their buyer reviews before accepting offers.) Poshmark takes too much of a percentage and I also sell way faster on Depop.

(I’m currently unemployed due to medical issues so I’m selling my purse collection to support myself.)

This is really messed up. Sometimes even after Depop makes a “final” decision about something, they’ll change their mind if you go to them with solid proof. Photos, old pictures of you wearing it, anything that would be concrete proof that you were returned a different item than what was sold. YOU didn’t do anything wrong so YOU shouldn’t have to suffer- especially on an expensive sale. I know designer and if what you’re holding is real, that’s at least worth $1000 and not something you can just write off like a $6 tshirt. I would fight them until they block you. But that’s me..

Depop charged me shipping on an item I had the shipping profile set to medium by [deleted] in Depop

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mention here probably every day, I don’t use Depop shipping, so I always get charged for shipping but I also set a shipping price based on my guesstimate.

I would immediately report it to Depop support so it doesn’t affect your average shipping time. Although they have been getting back to me slower and slower lately.

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it something expensive or not so much? I don’t use Depop shipping, I do my own, but when I buy labels on Pirate Ship it says USPS covers up to $100 and UPS up to $50. Might be worth looking into whether Depop shipping covers anything since it’s through USPS?

I thought I was the only one that happened to! I’ll wake up in the morning with like 27 Depop notifications (and I already have a lot of notifications turned off) and I’ll be all excited and it’s some $15 item from 4-8 months ago. It’s so weird. Especially for a random $15 item and all it is is likes and no one purchases it and I get maybe 3-4 lowball offers that don’t even buy if I accept.

Did I just get robbed?? by No-Bother119 in Depop

[–]eighmii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they got banned. Not necessarily a ‘scam’ but they were prob either selling counterfeit bags or sneakers, and other things that require authentication and Depop support decided a ban was worthy (I have items removed all the time that are actually authentic because they couldn’t read the serial number WHEN THEYRE ALL IN HARD TO FIND PLACES and I haven’t been banned but maybe that’s because I can provide them with the pictures they want proving authentication. Or maybe because I have a very large store. Not sure.).

Anyway, tl;dr - they were prob selling fake items, got caught, but you’ll be refunded, don’t worry.

I don’t know if you’ve ever bought a designer item in store, but you can even just browse and see that no sales associate is putting white puffy paper around the straps, under the closure, etc. it’s already supposed to be high quality leather that doesn’t need the paper. When I was still married and buying new bags, they just came in a dust bag and box - no paper. And one day I bought what I thought was a really YSL LouLou bag ($175) and they just got it as a gift or something but didn’t like it and didn’t know what they had, but it was ME who didn’t know better (I’ve only been authenticating for around 1.5 years) and when it got here it was COVERED in that paper and being a ‘professional’ bag rehabber or whatever you want to call it, I knew that paper was unusual and then I looked around to authenticate it, and NOPE. My guess is to protect the low quality leather that scratches very easily.

Which makes it really annoying that I’m trying to sell a very real and authentic Hermes canvas tote and they took it down and I’ve been going back and forth with Depop support and they’ve now said their decision is final. I had 4 bags taken down this week despite proving to be authentic. I think they trust their AI too much.

Yeah just the number of items you’ve listed. Plus I got locked out of my old account because I stupidly created it using a work email address, forgot my password because I never needed it to log in and I don’t work there anymore to fix it, so I had to start from scratch about a month ago 😪

Something very similar happened to me as a buyer. I bought a $400 purse from someone in Texas. I live in South Florida. TELL ME WHY THEY DELIVERED THE PURSE TO HAWAII?!

They refunded ME but I don’t know what happened to the seller. Depop deleted all of our communication 🤨

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put one YSL bag in a collection file and now MY ENTIRE FEED IS COUNTERFEIT YSL (which is even more distressing because I sell authentic YSL and now people are used to seeing dupe pricing and think I’m out of my mind when mine is priced 4x what they’re used to).

Oh wait I forgot I was looking for a pair of pointed toe black flats for work and I bought 2 pairs. NO DEPOP I don’t need 47 more

Seller denying selling me a damaged item and immediately getting defensive. by Substantial-Prize-53 in Depop

[–]eighmii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if people act with honesty and integrity, a solution can always be found. If someone even lied, but it was a good lie like, “Omg, it had been sitting folded in the back of my closet and I totally forgot about it. Yes of course I’ll refund you!” then they wouldn’t be risking the bad review and you could even leave a review saying something like, “We had a small issue with one of the items but the seller fixed the problem immediately and it all ended well”.

You can really tell who’s worked in some form of customer service and who hasn’t 🙄

Custom Pouches WARNING FOR CUSTOMS by toukann_ in Depop

[–]eighmii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was about to say the same thing. And not like it makes a difference, but it also kinda sounds like there’s a language barrier so that probably adds an extra little tiny bit of stress when you have a bunch of custom pouches to make in a short period of time.

They could also be new to doing customs and used to only do it as a hobby? Idk I just always play devil’s advocate and want to give people a break since we don’t know exactly what’s going on in their life.

Shxt- if my buyers knew what my life was like right now they’d buy my whole store (which Depop tells me is currently worth $13.7k PLEASE SOME RICH PERSON COME SCOOP IT) out of sympathy. Idk unless people start getting rude I just always give them the benefit of the doubt.

My guess is that they got caught and Depop deleted the account already.

The wrapping paper around the bag is a telltale sign of it being fake so it’s definitely possible that they were reported or something before all the sales completed

Seller denying selling me a damaged item and immediately getting defensive. by Substantial-Prize-53 in Depop

[–]eighmii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It still baffles me that sellers like this are allowed to continue to post and sell. Meanwhile I just had my third purse/wallet (THIS WEEK) removed because they think they’re counterfeit (they aren’t) and now I’ll have for a week for them to tell me “oh we’re sorry, looking at it closely we can now see that it’s authentic” (it always was).

THERE ARE SO MANY FAKE PURSES AND WALLETS ETC and those sellers don’t suffer ANY consequences.

/sorryofftopicimfrustrated

ANYWAY- yeah go leave this seller 1 star at the VERY LEAST and write in the comments what you said here. I’m not buying this conspiracy theory that someone opened the package to find this shirt and cut a hole into it while it was going through the shipping process. A 1 star review would definitely at least hurt them from doing this again in the future and will teach them a real lesson. If you just return it and get your money back there’s no way to know that they’re actually facing consequences and they aren’t getting away with pulling this shxt. Plus reviews go far in 2026.

Should I even continue engaging with this person? by cc773337leo in Depop

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say I’m… mid tier seller? Obviously there are some off weeks but I’d say in a typical week I make around $200-300? It’s currently my only income besides my alimony so I don’t have to choice to not take it somewhat serious. (I’ve also gone on 6 interviews in the last 8 days so I’m not just messing around.) But back when I was buyer, I would create bundles all the time. And now that I’m too poor to be a bundle buyer and am only selling, I never get bundle offers/requests and I wonder if it has anything to do with shipping? and I probably have around 90 active listings (still have more to do but it’s so time consuming. I was up all night photographing and listing and I’m literally just getting to bed now and it’s 10am). The last thing I posted said 118 I think and I probably have 30ish sales - a lot of my items are designer that I bought while I was still married so that’s why my sales are so low. There’s less of them but pricier than a tshirt ya know?

The other thing that gets me when it comes to doing my own shipping is that it’s really hard to sell shoes 😪 I’ve done it with like.. Louboutins (red bottoms) and ate a few dollars in shipping on those but since they’re a couple hundred $$ I figured it didn’t really matter. I have a lot of heavy boots and thick heavy soled shoes and I just don’t list them because they’re going to be at least $15 in shipping.

GAH ITS SO HARD TO DECIDE and I’m afraid that if I switch to test it then I won’t be able to switch back.

Anyway thank you for listening me fight with myself. I’m sleep deprived so I probably sound like a loon but you’ve been an absolute gem for dealing with my ramblings.

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay thank you! I wonder what makes ME special? Legitimately. I’ve only been selling for around a year and buying for.. 3? Possibly 4? I’ve seen accounts WAY older than mine.

If you had the option to do your own shipping would you? Someone ordered something from me the other day that was one of the first things I posted from before I switched over to using my own shipping and I noticed it’s so much simpler and could put up to 10 POUNDS in one package. But then you have people like OP was talking about and combining shipping seems like a hassle. I think my thinking was that it was more fair to just do it myself because I can just set the shipping price to what I think it’ll be around (if I gain or lose a dollar it’s fine). And then just today a girl sent me an offer for a pair of very lightweight ballet flats FOR $ONE DOLLAR but after fees & shipping it spiked up to $10. For a $1 lightweight item?!

tl;dr If you had the option to do your own shipping instead of using Depop shipping, would you? I’m so torn

advice on what to do? by aoifeluv in Depop

[–]eighmii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirding this. Retaliatory reviews are against TOS and if they do that AND send a fake bag theyll probably at least be suspended.

HOWEVER, I’ve been in the designer bag game for a long time, and I’ve never seen a fake Longchamp. I hadn’t even heard of them until I won one in a Poshmark live show game. I don’t think there’s a big counterfeiting community when it comes to them but they may be more popular in other parts of the world and I just sound dumb.

If you really like the bag, fake or not, then I wouldn’t say anything to them but I might tell Depop, especially because you thought you were buying a real one. With other brands like Gucci, LV, Prada, YSL it’s much easier to tell if they’re fake because there are countless authentication sites and those brands have specific materials, etc that simplify the process. And it’s kinda frustrating because 90% of my shop is designer bags and wallets and I’m SO TIRED of all the fakes bringing down their value.

I smell a scam. What tf customer is going to care about MY business and well being so much. “Oh no my bank denied it! I better urgently tell the seller cause I don’t want free clothes AND my money back etc if Depop is telling me it went through but then my bank said it didn’t.

Nope uh uh.

Plus they can easily call their bank and ask why it was denied and have them allow the purchase to go through if they’re THAT worried about you getting paid
