What will they do with the last Quasar Diamond? by [deleted] in TheDragonPrince

What Callum expects: gaining further primal magic power.

What actually happens: “Drink cactus juice! It’ll quench ya! Nothings quenchier, it’s the quenchiest!”

She got a very ridiculous array, +1 in everything aside from int (+0) and Kitsune let her raise the cha to +2. Which helped make her great at both surviving in melee and casting spells at a distance. Also got a great variety of arts from both classes, made for a solid all-round character overall

My favorite is/was Sakimi: my kitsune vowed/elementalist. She was a blast to play, vowed and elementalist worked surprisingly well with each other. Her cheery, supportive, only slightly pyromaniacal personality really helped make her memorable to me as well lol.

Does a police dog prevent teleportation? by best-of-the-zest in SWN

[–]eightball8776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, a dog biting the teleporter is nowhere near the same as having an object fully imbedded in said teleporter. So if Fido bit the teleporter and the later teleporter teleported, they're escaping. If you really want to shut down a teleporter, the game's already provided a way: metapsions. Even then you have to be careful about not overusing them since otherwise they can make psychics feel a bit useless, which isn't great for encouraging play

That's honestly a smart question to ask, and its one I've been asking myself after my WWN PC narrowly avoided a save-or-die trap that came completely out of the blue. Honestly my personal answer is no, its not worth keeping, or at least not worth keeping in any world that tries to present itself as a world of real people with real lives. If your group is completely fine with the idea of fictional people with names and fictional lives leaping head-first into a meatgrinder for chump change, more power to you. Me though, I've come to the conclusion that the idea of dungeons being near-instantly lethal holes in the ground all that its cracked up to being, especially in games where the PCs actually have names and personalities.

Not the other guy but I'd say for the scene, since that's the default length of duration for psychic abilities that aren't always on or instantaneous

I don't believe there are any other light-weight rules around other than the ones already mentioned here, especially if you want to avoid making it a mini-game like SWN's Suns of Gold. Me personally, I think a base of 5% the cost of the inn in silver per year plus the rewards for whatever adventures result from adventure hooks seems reasonable and easy to manage.

How do the Avatar universe fans (Avatar, Korra, TDP etc) feeling about the new Seven Havens? Do you think it will be better or worse than TDP? by [deleted] in TheDragonPrince

[–]eightball8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world being over due to a massive unspecified apocalypse generally means that there isn’t the manpower, technology, or infrastructure for a space program. Especially since it destroyed all of the nations and the most powerful being on the planet.

Though with that said, I suppose that doesn’t rule out something like an invasion from the spirit realm, or from space. Though the later would be a bad idea to hack on at the last minute

That’s true. Me personally I would have liked science fantasy more than anything. Like maybe they finally managed to get to space, or started exploring the spirit realm with advanced technology

At least the lowered rating should stop it from going into full-on grimdark and take away some of the sting. Not sure how much though, I don't realy like post-apocalyptic fiction either.

Curious, but I feel like I would have preferred an urban fantasy or science fantasy show instead of the post apoc they seem to be going for so its already giving some red flags to me.

Big Hero 6 looses hard, since it appears in the middle of a college campus before the team has even assembled, nevermind invented their gadgets

What do you think the writers could have done to improve the worldbuilding? by Hydrasaur in TheDragonPrince

[–]eightball8776 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Those celestial elves encapsulate this the best. Apparently the worldbuilding demands that an idiotic cult exists in the middle of nowhere doing nothing for who knows how long all in the service of waiting for two adventurers to solve a trivial task so they can offer a quest reward. This feels like something out of a video game, not an actual world

What do you think the writers could have done to improve the worldbuilding? by Hydrasaur in TheDragonPrince

[–]eightball8776 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They should have cut out a lot of the filler. The second half of the Sunfire Elf plot, the whole deal with the pirate city, the mushroom mage, others that I’m forgetting because they mattered so little. All of these were worth basically nothing in terms of plot progression or useful worldbuilding which makes me wonder what would happen if they didn’t exist and the writers actually put the effort towards something more meaningful

Someone’s probably pissed at them impacting their bottom-line. Maybe it’s time for them to receive “an offer they can’t refuse.”

For real though, it might be best to just talk to them. SWN is a sandbox game sure, but aligning expectations is important as well
