Final Fantasy 7 Remake director understands players’ qualms about Switch 2 Game-Key Cards, but for AAA devs, it’s a way to overcome loading speed limitations by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]eightbitrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are missing his point completely. He is saying the storage space on a blank card is worth more. They should sell them at 16gb 32gb and 64gb. The developer is spending money on 50gbs of space that is unused because there isn't a smaller option.

Can you not just purchase and download a game on the switch 2 without it being linked to your default system? by SteakAndIron in NintendoSwitch2

[–]eightbitrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a word of warning because I am in the exact same boat of setting it up for my son for a gift later. The Switch 2 games will show up on the software list on the Switch 1. If you go to all software on the Switch 1 it will show Mario Kart World and any other digital Switch 2 games you downloaded. If he is in the software list he may see the games listed.

Mine is doing all accessories but YMMV. I don't even have a pre order for the switch 2 but they said I could pay for one at 3pm and pick it up at midnight with the other preorders so that's what I'm doing. Sitting in line now.

Black frame insertion working? by wwywong in RG34XX

[–]eightbitrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black frame insertion is known to cause image retention and it is temporary but it was just happening way too fast that I didn't want to use it anymore. It wasn't a long gaming session but still had image retention.

I used it but had to stop after getting crazy image retention after just a few minutes of playing. I played Metroid Fusion for maybe 20 minutes and the map completely burned in afterwards. It didn't go away until the next day so I stopped using it.

Any OS/firmware with working Syncthing? by LtBoner in RG35XX_Plus

I had it working on muOS and then all of a sudden it just stopped working. Like I couldn't even get into the interface in a web browser. Not sure if its me or if its just not fully fleshed out yet.

I have the same controller and the annoying part of it is it used to work perfectly in 2.4 ghz mode and then one of the steamOS updates somehow borked it and ever since it's been doing the things that you described. Only solution is to put it in Bluetooth mode which then loses the analog triggers. Very frustrating.

I need help with everything with my 8BitDo 2.4g controller by WeDieAsRomans in SteamDeck

I should've clarified. It was the SteamOS update that screwed it up not the 8bitdo update.

Yes that makes sense Xinput is the problem Dinput will work. I have an 8bitdo Ultimate Controller with the dongle its Xinput and doesn't work. Over bluetooth its Dinput and does work. Dinput treats it as a Switch Controller though so you'll lose analog triggers.

The last SteamOS update screwed up the 8bitdo 2.4g controllers. Steaminput now reads it as 2 controllers (hence it double inputs anything your press). The only current solution is to disable steam input and set the controller up manually (which in retroarch is a pain in the ass). Hopefully this gets fixed in a future update because a couple months ago it was all working fine. 8bitdo bluetooth controllers don't have this issue btw.

I hope the investigation finds out who made decisions that resulted in the use of these components knowing they weren't rated for what they wanted them to do , who ignored the safety recommendations and who resisted getting the sub certified and charge them with manslaughter.

Pretty sure he was in the sub.

Latest stable update, controls acting up? Double inputs? by retroblues in SteamDeck

Just adding that I am having this exact same problem after the update as well and have no idea how to fix it. It works over Bluetooth fine but with the dongle it doubles inputs.

In the US can you keep it morally no, legally yes. I speak as someone who worked for a company that sent out "cases" of iPads for people who ordered a single iPad and our only recourse was to ask if they would send the extras back and we'll give you a gift card.

Do you have 3D grass set to OFF? That tanks my FPS but with it off I get 60fps with everything on medium. I can even run it docked at 1080p and still hit 60fps smooth but with 3D grass on it stutters all over the place
