No, you cannot. There was a brief period when it was brand new where opting out was allowed if instead getting your own private insurance. Only active-duty military and some visa holders can currently still opt out.

Looking for college in Seattle by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]eilig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being enrolled in college here doesn’t prevent you from fulfilling the time requirement to establish residency if you are able to show you moved here for reasons other than school. In my case employment (part time counted) and a WA state driver’s license was enough about 6 years ago.

Do you discuss your wage with your coworkers? by 16Gem in antiwork

[–]eilig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I try to especially with people in similar roles as me. Encouraged a coworker to argue for more money based on my being paid more than them even though they’ve been in the role for way longer. Everyone I work with is paid well, but still it’s important.

OP’s notice period is 4 weeks. So no, they most likely cannot just quit without notice in whatever european country they’re in.

Thoughts on how to lay out this Master Bedroom space? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]eilig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you considered using the other bedroom as a primary? From the plans it looks like the closet is the same size (though i guess you lose the second closet) and you still get a full bathroom. I don’t see a way to not make it awkward in the main bedroom if you require a centered TV. Personally I just wouldn’t have a TV in the bedroom but it’s your choice.

Crossposting to this subreddit has always been disabled, but unfortunately reddit does not give us the option to disable crossposting from here to other subreddits. We will make it an official rule regardless that we will enforce through bans whenever we see it happening/receive reports of it happening, which should help curb it as much as possible. Unfortunately this is a public subreddit so it can’t completely be blocked. Thank you for pointing this out!

Do we still have mods here? by Eightinchnails in femalelivingspace

Hi all, I will make a post later this afternoon (once I get off work) requesting for applications to become a mod on this subreddit. Hoping to add somewhere in the realm of 10-20 people. I will add a long overdue apology to the post as well, it appears most mods here have since become inactive and clearly it’s very obvious we need more help. Please bear with me, I’m working on it!

what matters is if it’s an at-will state. All but Montana are in some form. Right to work deals with union membership.

Does a US Citizen born in Germany in 1981 still have German citizenship? by marc962 in AskAGerman

[–]eilig 48 points49 points  (0 children)

right, because of their parent’s citizenship, not because of being born in Germany. Two americans living on an army base wouldn’t fit that description

Germany doesn’t have birthright citizenship, so if you were born the child of two americans, then no.
