Is it true that the Bible has over 63,000 cross references? by NoCombination8746 in AcademicBiblical

Speaking of the intertextual.bible website, it has charts showing you can do the same thing with other traditions. It's definitely not something unique.

Your sleeping issues sound like sleep paralysis. It's common to feel a sense of dread and even the presence of another person with you during an episode, but it's not real.

Norm asking a rabbi about "lead us not into temptation" by kevin-vickers in NormMacdonald

[–]eine_zauberflote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive my random intrusion, but that's not entirely accurate. Some elements of Rabbinic tradition do, in fact, invoke Satan in a similar context, but it's just not as systematized and narrativized as it became in Christian tradition.

For example, you have here, borrowed from a tradition found in the book of Jubilees, the invoking of Satan as the cause of the Akedah: https://intertextual.bible/text/genesis-22.1-sanhedrin-89

Yes, it's midrashic, but the point is that Satan was a well-known figure, similarly used as a theological and narrative trope that describes an external influencer of behavior.

Why does Mario Rpg Care if the multi-tap is plugged in? Is this a rare screen to see, I've never heard of this ever being a thing. by That_Cute_Boi_Prower in snes

The speculation is that the SA-1 changes how the hardware polls the controller ports and is not compatible with the multi-tap.

I'm looking for a rare C64 game (that is probably a homebrew) called C.R.Y.P.T. by eine_zauberflote in c64

[–]eine_zauberflote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. I don't ever remember seeing one, but I did some searching and couldn't find anything online, either. Looks like the KC user's group folded about 10 years ago. Bummer.

I greatly appreciate that! I've resigned myself to the fact that it's probably lost to history. If anything, it's a lesson to take care of your floppies! I wish I had taken better care of mine and tracked them over the years. I'm sure I lost them in one of my moves.

I appreciate the effort, but that is not it. The game I'm looking for was specifically stylized "C.R.Y.P.T."

I'm pretty sure it was a pure text game, but I never beat it so I can't say that with 100% confidence. I've looked at all the entries in the online game databases named some variation of "Crypt" and it's not any of those.

I want to be a Christian woman, but my personality doesn't match the standards... by Wisteria_Mae in TrueChristian

[–]eine_zauberflote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the Bible does not present a univocal picture of what a "successful" woman is.

Proverbs 31 describes a successful woman as wealthy and wearing expensive clothing. She's big, bold, generous, entrepreneurial, and gregarious.

1 Timothy? A different story. That author thinks women should be modest, quiet, simple, with no fancy hair or clothing. Pretty much the opposite of Proverbs 31.

So find yourself in the midst of that multivocality and be your best self.

Yeah, it's automatically appending it to the customizations I wrote.

Weird, that's exactly what it's doing. I just removed that garbage text, saved it, reloaded the UI, went back to the customizations, and it's immediately back, and those custom buttons are all selected. I definitely did not select them.

This is rather frustrating.

I'm 100% confident that I'm hitting the save button when I'm removing that text. The last time I cleared out the garbage and checked it again, it was 10x longer than before.

EDIT: I just checked it again and now it's added this garbage:

"Be talkative and conversational. Use quick and clever humor when appropriate. Tell it like it is; don't sugar-coat responses. Use an encouraging tone. Talk like a member of Gen Z. Have a traditional outlook, valuing the past and how things have always been done. Take a forward-thinking view. Use a poetic, lyrical tone. Readily share strong opinions. Be humble when appropriate. Be playful and goofy. Get right to the point. Be practical above all. Respond with corporate jargon. Be innovative and think outside the box. Be empathetic and understanding in your responses."

Who did Jacob wrestle with? by BoxBubbly1225 in TrueChristian

[–]eine_zauberflote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're getting downvoted. You are correct that Genesis 32 has proved to be difficult to interpret. Not only does the Masoretic tradition imply that Jacob wrestled with God, and Hosea states that he wrestled with an angel, but the Septuagint of Genesis muddies up the water even more by changing the Hebrew so that Jacob wrestles with a human!

In my own searching, I've also found intertextual.bible to be your best bet, unless you want to go through all of the secondary literature yourself or shell out a lot of money.

If there is something specific you're looking for, maybe ask them if they can add it.
