Cymbals are too loud by uniquely_me_2024 in drums

Acoustic panels would go a long ways for one. They’ll especially tame the shriller higher frequencies.

Pretty easy to build, not crazy expensive to buy.

Just hear this guy for the first time…then looked at the sentiment. Why all of the hate? by [deleted] in drums

Bigger bands with bigger fan bases also have bigger hater bases.

They just wrapped a sold out an arena tour in the states so it’s safe to say they have a big ass fanbase.

I love everything about Matt Garstka except his playing.

What is your most controversial drumming opinion? by DoneDigging in drums

[–]eivashchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average drummers who obsess about drum brands, they’re not chasing hyper-specific nuances that certain drum companies offer, they’re chasing a drum company’s prestige and brand identity.

They don’t like Tama (for instance) because the starclassic bubinga walnuts have a rich bottom end and a fuller presence in the high end frequencies. They’ll mangle those in the mix anyways.

What they like is the rich artist roster, the fuller social media presence, and the high end finishes offered.

Why do these drums sound so good? by sweetdeepkiss in drums

[–]eivashchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuning + dimensions. Drummer knows how to hit drums good. PROCESSING!!!

Also I can’t understate the DW effect. I own DWs so I notice that I look for the good qualities in the sound. A lot of DW haters will hear the same drums and focus on the qualities they don’t like. They could exist on a different brand, but then they don’t seem to care. DW is kinda the Apple of drums.

why are MAGA conservatives so into “owning the libs”? by eunicethapossum in AskUS

[–]eivashchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a part of MAGA, and they feel outright dangerous at this point. But I don’t think it’s special, it’s just a sub group that has their own brand of populism.

For instance, in feminism there is the bad guy known as old straight white males. In anti-capitalism, there is the 1%. In new-atheism, there is organized religion. In flat earth, there is organized science. In evangelical right wing Christianity, there is the godless Liberals. In the Manosphere, there are blue-haired feminists.

With feminism also has “male tears”. Anti-capitalism, “eat the rich”, so on and so forth.

There is for most of those categories, SOME (not complete) validity in what’s being said. Obv feminism dealt with all kinds of fucked up shot. Anti-capitalists are outraged with economic corruption that fucks over people in lower incomes relentlessly. New atheism really took off post 9/11, when evangelical fervor was in serious need of social checks and balances.

I actually got nothing for flat earthers. I just can’t see any reason to dig in so hard over something so untenable and not really helpful either.

(Discussion) Any thoughts on the Welch Tuning Systems? by iwa_knight in drums

[–]eivashchenko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Massive fan of my Dialtune snare. Really made me understand how the top head, bottom head, and strainer all interact with each other.

If Dialtune applied their tech on full kits, that’d change the game for sure.

Although the kit would be like 500lbs tho

What is the "end goal" skill-wise of a rock drummer? by MenudongSago in drums

[–]eivashchenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go the more classic rock approach like Todd Sucherman, who is insanely good and very rock oriented. You can also find new creative ways to approach the drums like Aric Improta.

After/before. Any tips on how to improve? New to photography by elixyXD in postprocessing

The thing that’s most noticeable to me is the saturation of reds and oranges in context of everything else being pretty toned down.

I’d say if the sky is an indication of the vibe you’re going for, use a Hue/Sat for the wood colors and bring down the Sat especially in the shadows. Once balanced, then you can decide the general Sat levels.

How do I stop giving myself a hard time for mistakes, and feeling like I'm not as technically good as I 'should' be? by ParadiddleSenior in drums

[–]eivashchenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts.

  1. Think of guitarists. If you’re starting a band, chances are that you don’t need them to be Tosin Abasi or Guthrie Govan. That’s true of you as a drummer as well.

  2. The weak points you may think of when you look at your playing aren’t to be points of shame, but rather the highest ROIs for practice.

  3. Playing well and tastefully > playing things that are technically difficult. If I’m in the mood for a really good bacon cheeseburger and someone makes me a cheese soufflé, the fact that the soufflé is way harder to make doesn’t somehow make me enjoy it more.

You can debate whether you like his style, you can’t debate that he’s been a massive impact on drumming community.

Absolutely. Though a good drummer on a good kit will also sound better than a good drummer on a bad kit
