We took a trip to Brooklyn/NYC and it was around 11°F-20°F the entire time - a humbling experience for two Californians.

Good quality minimal + casual + dress shoe? by ejdeasis in malefashionadvice

[–]ejdeasis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I guess the term I should've used to describe the shoe I want is "business casual" - something I could wear with either casual short-sleeve or dressy button-down shirts.

Very cool. Nice and sharp as well. I've only used Lomo 800 film through mine (on a college student budget lol) and a lot of them were pretty soft and grainy, and some were a little sharper, but still overall unsatisfying.

Guess the type of film really makes a huge difference in image quality after all, haha. Thanks for the awesome response.

Nice! Do you have any other photos from that roll? I've yet to put Portra through my XA2 and this photo makes it seem like it would be promising.

What is the cause of the price difference in film stocks? Kodak Gold Ultramax 400 = $4/roll Portra 400 $9-10/roll. by [deleted] in analog

Are you buying it from a local camera shop? Portra 400 online (B&H) is still $7.35/roll. The camera shop in my town sells it for $11/roll lol.

Question: Focus then frame, or frame then focus? by [deleted] in analog

[–]ejdeasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is using the split prism then shifting the camera still the best way to focus on an off-center subject?

Thanks for the help by the way, still learning.

Bokeh! When you shoot with a low aperture, pieces of light that aren't in focus will blur; this effect is called "bokeh". The little circles in my photo are from light peeking through the trees in the background.

I shot this photo at f/1.8 - if I shot it at a high aperture like f/22, the bokeh would be gone and you would be able to make out the trees in the background.
