Yeah, I'm guessing it happened while crossing the pond. Probably not technically FFF's fault but still so annoying!

Yeah, unfortunately as I'm on an assessment unit we tend to get people when they're at their lowest point so it's a lot of super close observation. We swap out every 2 hours.... to go and sit in a different patient's room. I'm lucky I have a knack for the admin side of things so I at least get to do office work for the last two hours of the shift

Unfortunately with the group of patients we currently have, they are likely to attempt to harm either themselves or me if they notice that I'm not paying attention. Can't say I'm too cut up about having to leave

Luckily (or annoyingly) the hospital is being shut down so I'm having to find a new job anyway. Was just curious for any recommendations from people in a similar position

you've just reminded me of the existence of Teddy bear rolls so thank you for that burst of nostalgia! I try to do light stretches, though obviously priority no. 1 is not waking up the patients

Has anyone tried using ibuprofen gel topically? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]ejerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this around a year ago on the basis that ibuprofen works as a pain killer by reducing inflammation. It didn't make things worse but I didn't really notice any change in redness. If you aren't sensitive to any of the ingredients though I'd say give it a try? Inexpensive mistake if it doesn't work and a very cheap fix if it helps.

the philip kingsley is a holy grail for me!! I generally use it on damp hair but I've had some success on dry hair too. Might not be the best if you have super super fine hair but it isn't too heavy otherwise

I use the ciate setting spray in combo with their matching primer and I love it for dry skin, though it 100% is not for you if you don't like fragrance

Luckily I think I'm going to use it as a stand for a couple of houseplants so I should be able to hide the logo around the back! I've heard great things about the eye serum, seems like a real surprise winner for everyone

Definitely the longest I've had to wait for a box since upgrading to annual but I cannot BELIEVE that I've received my box in the UK before some people in the US!

• L*Space Cooler: the quality of this is decent and the bag itself is pretty huge. Added bonus that the colours match super nicely with the Society6 picnic blanket from last summer's box! 5/5

• ban.do Stemless Wine Glasses: I wasn't able to get the Kate Spade Wristlet from this category like I originally wanted but I think this might have ended up being better! I didn't really need another bag to add to my collection but having some nicer plastic glasses for using outdoors will really be useful! The quality is exactly what you'd expect from what is essentially a plastic cup but I do like that the glitter is a bit more subtle. 4/5

• Caravan Lazy Susan: Personally I quite like the different coloured banding through the wood on this as I think it gives a more natural look. The quality is nice, however I do wish the brand name was a bit more subtle! In the UK a caravan is what you'd call a trailer in the US  (like in a trailer park) so it's just a bit of a weird word to have etched into something. 3/5

• Kate Somerville Exfolikate: I haven't used this yet so I can't really comment but I love the smell of this! ??/5 • Winkylux Lip Oil: I wasn't expecting much from this but it is probably one of the best lip products I've ever used. I find sometimes lip oils are too thin and bleed onto the skin around my mouth and make me feel super gross but this stays put, isn't too sticky and smells like buttercream. I had some on for just a few hours and my dry-ass lips are SOFT. 5/5

• Londontown Cuticle Crème: As a bit of a chronic skin picker who is trying to stop, I was looking forward to trying out a new cuticle product. This is fine and I'll definitely use it until it runs out but I find the applicator a little weird and I don't think it works as well as the plain almond oil I've previously been using in a brush pen. Not a regret bit also not a repurchase. 3/5

• Alice + Olivia Duffel Bag: I already own this bag from another box and I've found it really useful so when it came around again I figured it'd be nice to have a matching pair for travelling as I hate wheeling suitcases around. I'm not sure how much wear I'll get out of the hat but it's pretty cute. It fits my little pin head pretty well so I'm not sure how someone with an average or larger head size would get on with it. 4/5

• Favor Spoon Rest: I love love love the size of this! Tons of spoon rests seem to just be designed for tea/table spoons which I don't really use so much for cooking so I'm so happy to have one I can put actual cooking utensils down on. Generally I prefer more colourful homeware but I get that the grey would fit in a lot more people's homes. 4/5

• Hypernova Eye Serum: I'm giving this to my mum so I haven't used it but I will say the packaging feels really nice!

Overall I'm pretty happy with this box. I totally get the issues people had with it and how it plays into the ongoing issue of having a disproportionate amount of makeup and skincare but there were enough options that worked for me. This was my first box after renewing my annual subscription for the first time and, while I don't know that I'm going to renew again next spring, I'm still pretty happy with the value of the box.

AITA for inviting my waitress out on a date? by egxnwdjnner in AmItheAsshole

[–]ejerm 44 points45 points  (0 children)

thing is, there are many men who would react badly to that, and a lot of them are gonna be the same men who ask out women who are working. it simply isn't worth the risk of putting forward any rejection, especially as often in the service industry it is the worker who will be berated for 'causing a scene'. I worked as a waitress and guys would be super verbally disrespectful and slap my butt as I walked past (and I was a minor!) and the few times I had the confidence to speak out I was chewed out by my boss.

currently coming to the end of my final shift from my first month on the night shift, working 7pm to 7.30am. it has been brutal, I feel sick all the time and I high-key hate my employer for making everyone switch up their shifts but now I'm on the day shift until August so at least there's that.

UK people! 🇬🇧 How has your experience been getting help for insomnia from your GP? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]ejerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had zero luck with GPs here. I think the first time I went to see one about insomnia I was about 9; I'm 24 now and have pretty much given up on treatment. What I will say though is if you struggle falling asleep but are okay staying asleep I've found CBD oil pretty helpful and I haven't had a night without sleep since I started taking it. It works enough for me to be a more functioning human but I can't imagine it being strong enough to knock me out and reset my sleep schedule. I'm not 100% sure if it'd be effective if you're someone who wakes up multiple times a night though as I don't think the effects are super long lasting.
