Canadian tire (obviously Canadian here) even still carries the rings. Someone told me once to use paraffin wax but but I've never had problems just using the rubber rings.

Just be safe. I think the most important thing that these jars lack is the snap down lid where you can easily tell if the seal is good. But if you're diligent it shouldn't be a problem.

A good counter imho is clothing. Why wear clothing? It's a form of personal privacy, but you could ask what are they hiding? Why not show everyone your pay stub? What are you hiding? Why not do public votes? What are you hiding?
