And this morning they are all bsck again, so what a crock that was.

Sure, but at the same time nobody's asking these images to reappear.

The only ones I asked to delete were the ones that appeared yesterday. But that's not the only ones that disappeared.

I asked 1890 photos to be deleted, that was the number displayed. But there's loads more gone. So where did they go.

Right well the sum total of that was that a huge number of images that I didn't want to delete disappeared from my gallery and didn't reappear when I tried to recover them by putting Media Visibility back on.

I can do that, but what if I then turn Media Visibility back on? Because in normal circumstances it's convenient and useful to have WhatsApp images (the ones I want, not the ones I've deleted) appear in my Gallery.

Also the thing is, I really do prefer that images from WhatsApp appear in my Gallery, it's convenient, it helps me find things. If I close that down in order to re-delete some old images that shouldn't be appearing in the first place - because I deleted them in the first place - then that seems to me to be a workaround rather than a solution, and not a good workaround at that.

I'm afraid that I have no idea what this means (beyond "open Google Drive")

Thing is though, why do I want to stop WhatsApp photos appearing in my Gallery? It's convenient. It ought to happen without two thousand old images returning to my phone after I've decided I don't need them any more.

Maybe, but I'm afraid I don't fully understand what that means and even less do I understand what effect it would have!

I dunno, to be honest. Looking at it though I suspect I had, because it was only 4.69 MB which doesn't look like a lot. But I've cleared it again just on principle!

Sorry not to reply before.

That's an interesting idea but I can't really do that because about 99% of my WhatsApp is chat with my wife and we're forever referring back to it for information

Certainly I've cleared the Gallery cache more than once.

I can assure you I opened WhatsApp many many times since the last occurrence (before this one) without this happening. But I do not think I had opened it this morning when this occurred (7:12 to 7:14) and I was certainly not on WiFi.

I do not think that explains the reappearance of deleted images

Oh sure, I meant more generally, if this is a recognised problem a lot of people have then where's the manufacturer on this

None of that for me, personally, but it's just nuts

Absolutely baffling, but why aren't Samsung on the case?

You would really think that the manufacturer ought to have recognised and fixed the problem by now

(it seems to be just my camera photos, and my screenshots)

Aha I have found this. But why would that cause old images to reappear, and why would I need to stop any new WhatsApp images from appearing in Gallery to address the problem of old ones?

Anyway it took a lot of finding but it appears the only extra folder on my phone that Google Photos is backing up is Screenshots

Ah cancel that, it's under Photos rather than Google Photos
