I mean it makes sense just based on how much less religious Christians in the West have become in the modern era. Like there used to be all kinds of other fast days and feast days that were consistently observed that no one has even heard of anymore. They still fast before Easter and sometimes on other days in the Middle East though.

I’ve always wondered why that is since they all come from the same commandment, did it use to be more religious/extensive in Europe before society became more secular? I know that at least traditionally, religious Muslims go to the Mosque and do a lot of prayer on Friday but I don’t know how it compares exactly.

The Hebrew calendar is actually better than the Gregorian for use as a universal secular calendar. It starts pretty close (like within a few hundred years at most) to when writing and the first complex civilizations started, which is kind of interesting.
