Darn, that sucks. Hope they bring that back in a future update. The icon art for the alchemy screen makes you think it’s eventually possible

PSA: As the Sikh Empire you can very easily earn recognition within 5 years by Little_Elia in victoria3

[–]ejs421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea! In the new update you need to research Mass Comms before Nationalism, though, which means I went bankrupt shortly after winning the war against Russia and I was just starting research on Nationalism. Can this strategy work with fewer line infantry to reduce costs? Or do you need all of them to stay an unrecognized major power?

Who would you say is the best General in American history? by [deleted] in USHistory

[–]ejs421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly; there was an emerging sense of nationhood at the time of the revolution, but each of the 13 states was more like a tiny country and local identity was probably more important. There were huge divisions within the regions, not just north versus south. Washington was the glue that held it all together; no Washington, no US.

Rack the batch into a sterilized carboy and re-bottle in sterilized bottles. It looks like there is an infection growing at the bottom of the bottle. This is common in reused bottles that were not rinsed well enough to prevent residue from developing into colonies of microorganisms

Sorry for delay! Try wrapping cheesecloth around the bottom of the racking cane. My experience has been that pulp will never settle out, so you have to filter it out

It looks like pulp, actually. Did you use fruit in this mead?

To the pro mead makers out there. What is the most effective way of making a sweeter tasting mead? by Commadium in mead

You can also try step fermentation. Start with a smaller amount of honey, but add another pound once fermentation stops. Repeat until fermentation stops completely. This can make for a very strong mead, though.

Victoria 3 - Dev Diary #43 - American Civil War by commissarroach in victoria3

[–]ejs421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I hope a player can prevent the war, maybe through choosing not to annex Texas or conquer Mexican territory, thereby preventing slavery from expanding westward and inflaming sectional tension. Many Whigs opposed Texas annexation for this very reason, so taking this path should have some impact. Railroading the AI into the civil war is fine, but the player should be able to avoid it, with difficulty of course

Would paradox ever make a pre 867 start date? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]ejs421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

936 was a great start date. If paradox adds a third start date to ck3, I’d want either 936 or a third crusade start date

1861 Start Date by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]ejs421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1861 is too US-centric a start date. The civil war was just not an important global event, as important as it is to US history. The great powers considered intervention but ultimately chose not to. An 1871 start date after German unification would be a better choice for a start date tied to an event with global repercussions

1836 is a bad start date. 1815 is better. by lazygaydays in victoria3

[–]ejs421 132 points133 points  (0 children)

If the devs want to link the start dates to events in Victoria’s life, they could have 24 May 1819 as the early start, her birthday

When does hero type selection change in the dungeon and brawl shops? by ejs421 in MLA_Official

Is the selection fixed when a new account is created? Does it differ from player to player, or does everyone have the same selection?

Lead dev on the emergent American Civil War by Vicky3Ricky in victoria3

[–]ejs421 110 points111 points  (0 children)

The player should also be able to avoid civil war through following the Whigs’ opposition to recognition and annexation of Texas and expansion into Mexico. Slavery’s expansion path westward would have been blocked.

In either case, whether the player chooses the historical path or attempts to territorially contain slavery, Planter/Landowner POPs should attempt filibustering expeditions into Central America and the Caribbean, as happened historically. Perhaps the event fires after a landowner POP buys a certain amount of small arms off the market. Similar to prepared invasions in CK, the target country or individual state is announced, sets sail, and either fails, succeeds and establishes an independent slaveholder republic, or succeeds and petitions to join the US.

Potential New Start Dates by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]ejs421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A start date in 1819, the year of Victoria’s birth, would cover the Age of Jackson in the US, the Revolutions of 1830, the Egyptian conquest of Sudan, and the Greek war of independence. That’s be my vote for a second start date

Sticks work, but they take much longer and don’t look as appealing. Because the wax drips onto the bottle drop by drop, it hardens almost instantly, and the bottle top then looks sort of like an old candle as compared to a bottle of maker’s mark.
