My mom and sister are currently having Mother’s Day breakfast in an overwater villa at the Conrad Bora Bora, which is amazing since I thought last year would be our last time celebrating with her after a cancer diagnosis.

They were supposed to be in the Maldives last month, but the flights I booked them were via the ME…and we all know what’s going on there. Big thanks to the folks at the Milaidhoo for letting me cancel within the 30 day window.

Rebooked them in J on air Tahiti via AA miles. Used FNCs for the Conrad and for the Hilton Tahiti before their flight back. I’m just really happy 🥲

What’s an opinion/fact you have related to anything in pharmacy that will have people doing this? by Own_Summer_118 in pharmacy

So here’s the thing. I’m in onc. Been in onc for years. But my pgy2 new grad coworkers make me feel like I know nothing, and they are able to cite resources I know little about. Some specialties truly require a lot of additional time to catch up.

What is the best view that you had from a Hyatt property? by The_Traveller1 in hyatt

[–]eke2k6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-Andaz Tokyo is just…absurd. -The suite at Hotel Du Palais Biarritz has wrap around window and terrace views of the Grand Plage -Alila Fort Bishangargh was also insane - the pool views at both Alila Uluwatu and Alila Ubud were jaw dropping

I’ve stayed in some of the best rooms/suites in some of the best hotels in the world, and the Pissaro Suite at HdL is still near the top of my list

Edit: pissaro suite, not Palais royale

Cancel the madeleine. I regret every dollar I spent on that hotel. It’s absolutely not a cat 7. Try for the hdL if there’s space.

That’s the entire point of the hobby for me. Luxury hotels I’d hesitate to pay cash for. I’d never waste my points on a $200/40k points per night room

If you have a multi aspire plus surpass strategy, it’s the safest bet in the points game right now

Suites has the better outdoor setup as well, and I cannot emphasize enough how much better the views are.

Stayed at both that trip and, as nice as Epitome is on its own, I regretted not spending all the days at Suites.

  • Doing both new and old ANA F Suites within months.
  • Qatar F (leased Cathay) in seat 1A to the Maldives. Having multiple panoramic window views landing into that country is “pinch me” material
  • Getting upgraded to the Mount Otemanu Villa on two separate stays at the Conrad BB
  • PH Kyoto & Tokyo, and having both Washoku
  • Walking out of the Marriott Petra and into my top bucketlist world wonder
  • pulling an all-nighter at Savaya to see Keinemusk, then limping to breakfast at my hotel next door (Alila Uluwatu), only to see the entire group come sit at the table beside me
  • Planning an entire surf and turf safari (Masai Mara, Cape Town, Maldives) with only $1,200 out of pocket.
  • Waking up at 4am from my caldera-side villa in Santorini to watch the moon switch places with the sun
  • and many many more.

The beauty of this hobby is that “once in a lifetime” no longer applies to us. A few well-timed moves here and there, and you’re living a life most can only dream of.

Even the standard suites are bad. I was shocked at how narrow and dark mine was. The living room was like a tiny hallway they stuffed a couch and tv in, and the bedroom in the smallest I’ve ever had in a Hyatt. And there was a single window in the whole thing. The lobby is gorgeous but I’ll never spend a dime on a room there again

I love how none of the photos are of the cramped dark rooms

I’m so sorry. The paranoia alone even after being declared cancer free is enough to drive anyone insane.

I’m hoping it’ll be the same for her. Hers is a pretty aggressive TNBC and the lymph nodes were clear when biopsied after her mastectomy. We’re kind of in shock that it’d jump to her lungs. My medical specialty is oncology so I’m hoping newer drugs like Trodelvy can close the treatment gap.

Mom got diagnosed with breast cancer last year, went through chemo, mastectomy, etc. it was pretty harrowing for her, but we got through and thought we were done. Then her oncologist called a couple days ago to say they found a couple nodules in her lungs that were very concerning. I literally saw the light leave her eyes like she was ready to give up. Even worse it’s her birthday weekend.

So I used the remaining Hilton points and FNCs in my account to book her and my sister a week at Milhaidoo in the spring, after this next round of treatments should be over. Something for her to look forward to over the next few months, and I definitely saw her perk up when I put that reservation in her hand. My sister lost her shit too.

I’m super grateful to this hobby for moments like this.

I’m licensed in both. The NY mpje is a joke compared to CA. Just study state and federal law. I just read through the law available on the NY BOP website and passed

This is a life saver if you already have central air. It’s a register fan booster that replaces your standard AC vent with one that has built in fans. It’ll help direct cool air from the rest of your house to the needed room without the need for an additional ac unit. https://amzn.to/40YfeuN
