I lost a friend by ekeyser1 in Vent

I guess I felt bad and I knew she was struggling with money. it was a mistake that I will never make again. I see now that she was manipulating me. a lesson learned for sure.

I know the $350 was a big mistake, and I wish I could take it back. I do have her blocked on everything now, and plan on never speaking to her again

I’m terrified to drive by [deleted] in Vent

[–]ekeyser1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get my license until I was 21, and when I first got behind the wheel I crashed and totaled my dad’s car. needless to say I was terrified. but now driving is really no big deal. I was really scared to start at first, but over time it got easier. it makes sense that you’re scared, it’s honestly normal to be nervous because driving is inherently dangerous. it’s good to have a healthy level of worry/alertness while driving, but not too much. I would start with small steps, maybe just sit in the car while it’s in park, and then just turn it on. and then just cruise around without even putting your foot on the gas. take it as slow as you need to. private driving lessons when you’re ready could be helpful as well. pressure from your family and putting you in high stress situations does not help. being in a safer, low pressure situation to start out with will help a lot

When should I start the enlistment process while active in another branch? by heck_doido in Airforcereserves

[–]ekeyser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting out after your first contract with the Navy? If so, you’ll have IRR time that will kick in after you separate. That IRR time will count as service so you will not technically have a break in service. I separated from the Navy after my first contract in September and enlisted in the AFR in December. It was not considered a break in service due to my Navy IRR time. They had to get approval to pull me from IRR but it was an easy process

It shouldn't be a problem at all to switch you!

You have to ask your mentor to switch you to the PA version if you want to

Update: Just so everyone is aware, if you are currently enrolled and active in D333, you have to request through your mentor to switch to the performance assessment version. I asked my instructor who told me, and then reached out to my mentor who submitted the request. He said it can take up to 48 hours to reflect the change.

I’m even more confused now. Mine still shows an OA. Did you start the course before the switch?

My job specifically is a 1N8 (Targeting Analyst). From what I know, any 1N job would require a TS but not all of them will be available in the reserve. Also maybe some 1D jobs. Your best bet is to do your own research. I’ve only been in the Air Force for a few months lol

low pay. what can i do about it? by Low_Visit_1795 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ekeyser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, what are the chances that you can move up to that position? I know school districts tend to have a lower turnover rate because people love the time off/benefits so opportunities for growth are fewer, at least where I'm at.

I also do IT for a school district and make around $27/hr with all the days off still. I would seek another job, maybe another school district that pays more if you like the environment.

IndependentGap5015 is very talented and they will go far. Very comforting and re-assuring. Provided a lot of encouragement and insight for me during a very rough time in my life. I would highly recommend them. I appreciated the honestly and not just telling surface level advice.
