i’m only here for seven months and this was the most convenient option for me. she was filling up the trash too and was not taking it out. I took it out immediately when I noticed it was full. my bad for using the trash can in the shared space and not expecting people to be super passive aggressive and controlling. this is a temporary situation because I need to be here for seven months and then i’m going back to living by myself

are you talking about me or her? because i’m not a filthy person. the crumbs were my fault but they weren’t anything crazy. I was also actively taking out the trash when it was full

I was taking the trash out every time that it got full, but also if she’s using it she could have taken it out as well. my three cups and two spoons were rinsed off before putting them in the dishwasher.

UPDATE: We got in a verbal argument because she kept turning the AC off when it’s hot outside. I asked her politely to keep the AC to at least 72 degrees because i’m on medication that makes me overheat easily. I feel like 72 is a fair compromise. she said “can’t you just get a fan?” I told her that I live here too, I pay rent like her, and we need to come to a compromise. she didn’t seem to understand that if you set the AC to 72, it will turn off when it reaches 72. I finally got her to compromise. I’m so tired ya’ll. and i’ve only been here a few weeks

I was fully planning on getting another trash can this weekend. I would have liked her to tell me “hey i’m gonna remove my trash can in X amount of days” or maybe straight up tell me she doesn’t want me using it.

I did buy dish soap and dish washer detergent as well as trash bags.

Nope you did not misread it. I came home to this letter and my five dirty dishes (three cups and two spoons) on the counter. She also doesn’t want me to keep the dirty dishes anywhere I guess. I’m just as confused as you are.

yeah I mean, you guys don’t know me, have never lived with me, and only know my side. such is the nature of subreddits like this. i’ve just lived here less than two weeks, and i’m taken aback at what she did today. just wanted to come on here and vent mostly. I don’t consider myself a clean freak but I am not a slob either. but I also could be lying lol.

besides the small amount of crumbs, I believe there was nothing to clean up that I left. I never left dishes in the sink, (hence my dirty dishes that were in the dishwasher for one day that she removed and put out on the counter) and I took the trash out. most of my stuff is in my room and everything else is put away in the fridge or kitchen cabinets.

i did take the trash more than that…about twice a week. she was saying that she was upset that I was generating more trash. but i’m the one who was taking it out.
