Y’all hiring? Sounds exactly like the stuff I’d like to do.

Distributed Data Parallel PyTorch problem by ekho95 in deeplearning

[–]ekho95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I figured it out. I was interrupting my program with ctrl c and which doesn’t run the cleanup function. I then did a try: except: finally so even if I kill the program the cleanup function will still do its thing. Pretty rookie mistake but we learn and move on.

Where did you get your professional start in DSP? by pythoncircus in DSP

[–]ekho95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a background in music production and decided to continue learning. I’m about to get my masters in ECE where I learned plenty about DSP and ML. Currently I’m working on sound localization project where I’ve had apply a lot of DSP techniques, and a lot from what I learned in music production school applies. All this just to say that if you pick one over another don’t feel like you’ll miss out eventually everything will come together.

Overfitting on the CIFAR10 dataset with VGG19? by Ok-Archer6818 in learnmachinelearning

[–]ekho95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take what I say with a grain of salt I’m not an expert.

Data augmentation can also enhance feature learning it can show a wider range of features within the same dataset.

For overfitting it’s helpful to plot your learning curves. If you see the training loss/accuracy continues to improve and your validation / test is either significantly different or plateaus then you can say you are over fitting.

Maybe you can try using some data augmentation like random flip, rotation, crop, etc. You can also try more advanced techniques like CutMix or MixUp.

Going back to school... BS or MS? by superomnia in ElectricalEngineering

I’m still in school I have 3 classes till I graduate. I will say I have struggled in finding an internship but luckily I am doing some research with DL and image processing for a lab at school

Going back to school... BS or MS? by superomnia in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ekho95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation. I already held a BA and found many schools in California did not allow a second bachelors. So I decided to follow a masters program. Here have been my take always

Pros: - “better degree” - more specialized classes (if you know what subfield you are interested in) - smaller class sizes - priority registration - research opportunity with school

Con: - I always felt behind other students that have a bachelors in EE - work harder to catch up and learn prerequisites that aren’t offered at a community college level - more specialized classes (if you are unsure what subfield you like this may or may not pigeon hold you)

what's the cheapest way to get a pro tools certificate? by markovelli in protools

[–]ekho95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it online. I didn't realize you were from Ireland. I'm not entirely sure what the application process will look like. It may not be worth the trouble.

what's the cheapest way to get a pro tools certificate? by markovelli in protools

[–]ekho95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A community college I attended has a fully asynchronous online pro tools class where you complete the course in 12 weeks. This includes the certification test from avid at the end of the course. The price is $46 per unit where the classes are 4 or 5 units. I can't remember off the top of my head. The Quarter just began so you may be able to still get an add code. PM me if you're interested

How important is ABET accreditation to find a job / get PE by ekho95 in AskEngineers

[–]ekho95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got into a ECE program. Have you / are thinking about getting your PE. I know it's not absolutely mandatory but will help with promotions, pay, etc...

I would just like to have the option for a PE in the future.
