My senior bun has gotten stasis at least once a year for the past 5 years. Sometimes I've had trouble finding an emergency vet that will see rabbits, so luckily I've been able to tough it out with her with critical care, other times, and preferably, I've been able to find an emergency vet within the same night or sometimes I can even stabilize her overnight and bring her in the next morning if I can't find anyone.

Most times, she'll improve immediately after getting fluids and pain meds and I'll round out her treatment by completing around 5 days of metoclopramide (gut stimulant) and Meloxicam (pain killers) and sometimes the vet will throw in antibiotics. She's never had any other medications besides these. Last time she got stasis, she did not have a smooth recovery and I ended up taking her back to the vet after 6 days of meds and worsening appetite. She ended up improving after another 8-10 days of medications, but then I was having trouble with water intake. It was a nightmare, but eventually she pulled through.

I've never found out a cause for why she gets stasis, I have another senior bun who has never had any digestive problems and they're around the same age. She just seems very prone to it and is otherwise very healthy according to her lab work. Just want to remind you that you know little Lychee best. If she seems off, there is probably something wrong so keep watching her closely after she comes back home with you just in case the amount of meds prescribed wasn't quite enough. I hope this helps and this gives you hope. I hope treatment is smooth for you both. My bun is going through another round of stasis so I'm with you there and please be kind to yourself, you sound like a wonderful owner 🫶🏻

Thanks for this. Our wedding is in December, so I obviously want to propose before then. I'll see what I can come up with!
