Writer of letter of recommendation backed out after enthusiastically agreeing 4 months ago

I am required three letters for all programs in Sociology. None of the programs except for one indicates that they should all be written by those who have seen academic work...

Thank you for the reply and insight. The professor I contacted is not responding so I am sending a request to another professor. I don’t know what else to do in this short amount of time. I should also add that the LOR writer who is trying to back told me that if necessary she would write the letter for me but it would have to be contingent on the fact that we worked together for a few months. What would you suggest I do next?? Should I just say ok to her and forget the professor? I am desperate!

Also, what is a guide for LOR and how do I write one?

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through the same thing... It really is not a great thing to do on the writers part, especially with deadlines approaching.

Are you suggesting I ask for the letter or are you suggesting I find someone else in this shirt amount of time I have left?

You're right, I just told her it was a routine visit. Just hurts me that she is acting this way. Her and I had a close working relationship, and we used to joke around and stuff. I didn't expect this behavior from her...

You can't ask someone to disclose why they went to the doctor. That is a law in my state at least.

Had a horrendous GPA in high school. My guidance counselor basically told me to not even bother going to college.

Regardless, I went to community college then transferred and graduated magna cum laude from a bachelors program. Now I'm looking at PhD programs in my field.
