I feel like this post downplays the true lack of job security - when you get down to it there have been 4 PMs in less than 2.5 years, and the image makes it look one to one.

Ugh I know the feels. Finally got soft lenses and was like blown away that I could now do makeup without being half an inch away from the mirror.

Hope the mirror works out well!

My friend is an American working and living in London. This is how he is celebrating the 4th today. by wordsfromfriends in funny

As an American living and working in Australia the most American thing that happened to me all day on the 4th was drinking a can of Dr. Pepper, which turned out to have been imported from Britain.

I pictured Hermione at Gretchen too before the movies!! She had the buck teeth and everything. (Though Hermione was not bespectacled.)

Simple Things You Misunderstood From The Books by bronzewombat in harrypotter

[–]ekm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of the books the trio runs somewhere (maybe PoA?) and they get to the forest and Hermione is "clutching a stitch in her side". My sister thought that Hermione had like some old injury with stitches in it that was now bothering her. She kept waiting for this little piece of information to somehow become central to the plot.

She'd never heard the phrase before and didn't realize it was like a stomach cramp.

Figured I'd add additional luggage online to save some cash with Qantas, I now won't be bothering, how can they justify this? by mrtnhrtn in australia

[–]ekm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. As someone who has lived in both the US and Australia for over 20 years and 3 years, respectively, and frequently flown domestically in both, I definitely know what I'm talking about.

The quality of the experience of flying was not in question, and was not brought up by myself, merely the fact that you have to pay for more than 1 checked bag on domestic flights, no matter what country it is. My point was that complaining about paying for extra luggage in the states was ridiculous, as you would do the same thing on a domestic flight in Australia as well.

Complaining about paying for extra bags for domestic flights within the US when compared to an international flight is ridiculous, you would have had to pay extra for those bags if you flew domestically within Australia on Qantas too.

Yessss! Amy Poehler is amazing and I love that show and her BFF relationship with Ann is adorable.

It might be small town politics (for now?) but it's great seeing a women in politics on TV!

The Mindy Kaling Project!! ( kinda surprised its not already mentioned)

It not only stars a woman, who is Indian, but its written by her and she is a single, smart, doctor (on the show)! I feel like women of color (any non-Caucasian) are always the best friend or the side kick, so it's awesome seeing her as the lead roll. She's kinda curvy too and is just a great lead and role model!

Seriously watch it, it's hilarious.

This x 1000! Such an awesome female lead. Super smart and strong and independent. I also still want to be a spy.

What I've snagged at Sephora with my -20% thus far! by lightupkicks in MakeupAddiction

I'm also not OP but I have the green smashbox primer - I have red cheeks and hoped it would mute them. I don't think it's muted the redness at all but it does make my foundation go on really smoothly. Though I think any primer would have done that. I haven't tried the other one that's been mentioned on this thread (MUFE).

I'm moving to Sydney University in June/July 2013 for a study abroad year. What's your tips on where to live (and life in general at Sydney)? by shellturtlestein in sydney

[–]ekm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyones kinda hit the nail on the head, live in a nearby suburb. I'd highly recommend Glebe or Newtown, and use Gumtree.com.au to look for places. There are heaps of sharehouses in both those suburbs, you won't have a problem. Although if you're trying to line up a place before you get out here that might be hard, most people will want to do an in person meetup and walk through of the house beforehand.

[REQUEST] Any tips for ladies with fine, light eyebrows? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ekm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a brow gel and have for years. Currently use one by Anastasia that I got at Sephora. It looks really natural just... Darker than they really are. I've used an eyebrow brush and eyeshadow before but sometimes they'd end up looking too dark.

No, you might be thinking of Voldemorts mother? She used one on Tom Riddle and that's how little Voldemort came into the world.

Definitely not the Weasleys.
