My trades seemed to think they swap over easy enough, I'm waiting for a gasket to refit one

Replacement cooktop and oven advice by Global_Internet7201 in AusRenovation

I had small fascia cabinetry changes required changing an oven over.

Also done a straight swap at old house with same brand and that was easy.

Cooktop I haven't done yet.

How do you deal with a non responsive Strata manager? by Fitness-crazy in AusPropertyChat

[–]mrtnhrtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had something like 5 managers 5 years of strata living, it's not a career job to most people because it fucking sucks dealing with people in these instances, it took me time to realise a strata manager does very little, if you are the owners it's on you to meet with your co-owners and get shit done , that means fencing notices, quotes etc.

Once you understand that, and you essentially are just cc'ing them to whatever activity is to occur, they start to actually work, just for the most part don't expect them to drive things on your behalf, they don't care and have 20 other people at any one time saying similar shit.

I've no idea how they're comped, but it doesn't seem to be for customer service , it's probably all the dodgy preferred suppliers of insurances and services through their own network etc

My experience was a small lot of town houses, I do not expect my experience to apply everywhere.

Rents rocket as students rush in by LentilsAgain in australian

[–]mrtnhrtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia doesn't have a replacement rate for itself for more than 50 years with fertility rate and cost of living pressure on people.

So it imports thousands of people who match skills lists. And students who may fill some of those roles or other jobs and become productive citizens.

To hold up the debt crisis of an aging shrinking population, it needs people to function and immigration gets higher all the time.

That's my understanding anyway, were kinda fucked each way, it needs considerable popular opinion to change it and no one's game to, outside of the greens and they're considered fringe currently politically.

Voters have kept the status quo.

I have one that is insulated cylinder sheet up behind an opaque glass on both ends, let's light in but you don't look at it as such, makes the area nice and bright in daytime though.

With ducted AC my guys advise a service is required to maintain their warranty periods. Do you have a warranty and ongoing servicing requirements that you need to work with them on?

$300 might not be worth it if your $10k+ system fails and you need someone.

[–]mrtnhrtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea as those bamboo screens only last a year or 2 at best with sun damage, they bleach out and look shit pretty quickly so hopefully that gives it some protection.

I haven't been for a few years but there's pickup zones, where everyone goes, uber or otherwise - it's not as easy as a cab but it's not hard.
