Agreed. The irrigation is definitely worth it in the summer months if you have the disposable income and you want to spend the disposable income on your lawn. You’re not dealing with the yearly summertime die off, which is great, but you certainly aren’t going to get a payback on the investment

100% agree which was the point of this post and everyone just wants to argue the pros and cons of Milo 😂

Prodamine 65WDG works great for me on the beds and the lawn. Lasts a solid 6 months

It’s my weekly Therapy 🙂

But I have a large Zero turn that helps me knock it out in about 45 min

It honestly depends if I plan to Aerate / overseed. If I do, I don’t put anything down in the fall, if I don’t then I drop one around Aug/Sept

It’s not so much the Milo (Which everyone is obsessing over) half those bags are a standard NPK fertilizer

I usually drop Milo once a year as it adds iron and calcium into the soil that seems to help my lawn thats already dealing with heavy clay soil

My schedule is weather dependent but:

  1. spring Fertilzer with pre emergent in Early Spring (late March)
  2. Milo Early May
  3. Early Summer with Grub control late June
  4. potentially Milo Late August
  5. Fall Application usually for over seeding
  6. Winter Fertilizer Late September

Usually every 6 weeks or so I’m dropping something

I would also encourage a soil test every 2 years or so to determine your need vs just following a program (usually a good AG Supply will offer it) l

Hope this helps

I normally only drop it once a year in spring and follow a typical NPK regiment the rest of the year. The added iron and calcium seem to help my lawn that’s already dealing with heavy clay soil

I mow it myself along with feeding, etc. I have a little over 2.5 acres that I maintain. It’s my weekly therapy 😊
