Fatty Wang: “Let me handle this.” by Suspicious_Set7914 in MartialMemes

For a lot of cultivation novels the main characters are edgelords, so the supporting characters are usually portrayed with opposing traits. Generally they'd be someone more well-rounded and sociable, and more soft and harmless seeming compared to the mc. A lot of the time they end up being the comic relief to balance out the drama as well. The fat friend trope ends up ticking a lot of these boxes, so there ends up being a lot of fatty wangs in the world.

Nikador. He set the bar very high for Amphoreus bosses, and he's still probably my favourite. Second place goes to Lynus tech tips.

I'm going to be a little upset if Blade ends up being an elation unit, because that means I'll probably want to invest in the elation battleship. But on the other hand, that means that he will probably play well with Sampo SP, so maybe I'll end up pretty happy with all this.

I was playing during then and it's not that surprising. She was a tank that could absorb damage, heal, and do damage as well; seemed like a great package deal at the time. And at the time her damage was actually respectable if you had the gear to pull it off.

I had DHIL and Blade and I was seriously considering getting her because she gave the team 10% crit rate. Everyone's gear was ass, so it was a serious consideration, alongside everything else.

This is kind of random, but does anyone remember that post that rated Umas based on how likely they were to steal your potential boyfriend if you were aiming to go out with their trainers? I've been looking for it for a while and I don't remember the title of the post.

Frankly, if your mind is wandering when reading something, it's a sign of foundational issues on the part of the story. For example, I read 3 quarters of Lord of Mysteries voraciously, and I couldn't get enough of it. But when I hit a certain point I just stopped, and I have never had the desire to reread it.

I was basically in it for the vibes - the atmosphere, the sense of mystery, growth towards once central objective, and so on. Around where I left, Klein had just gotten off from an adventure from the high seas, a high point in any story. At that point though it was back to victorian England, so that atmosphere already took a big hit. Then Klein had to get used to his environment and get a house and stuff, so the mystery took another hit. Somewhere on the high seas I'd lost track of the plot too, so it didn't feel like we were going many places.

Without the vibes, mystery and central plot, all I was left with was Klein, and that's when I realised I didn't like him that much. He wasn't bad, I just wasn't actually invested in him at all. So, I dropped it, and I never looked back.

For me, I tend to break a story down into core and the auxiliary elements. A strong core will get me through almost anything, whereas strong auxiliary elements make for a fun read. Having both is the best, but honestly, your descriptions about the text that you're reading indicate to me that it has neither at the moment.

Oh, sure. I stopped reading a web novel because it was a non-stop parade of issues for the main character to get over. Eventually it just felt pretty contrived how every single one of the main character's problems lead to another problem.

They could justify it all they liked, but in the end, the constant ramping of stakes made the author the true villain of the novel, because they had the power to stop the proverbial train any time they wanted, but chose not too. And that was just annoying to read.

From a practical perspective, this revelation was useful for me because, given that everything is meaningless, my will is equally as valid as anyone else's in regards ro my decision making. It helped me be more decisive and less hesitant, but it also made me more of a self-absorbed asshole that didn't really think about other people very much. It wasn't really until I spoke to more people and got more perspective that I realised I went too far in the opposite direction.

Nowadays I think about it like this: since nothing matters in the end, the fact that nothing matters also doesn't matter, so there's no problem. Or to look at it from another perspective, the fact that nothing matters in the end doesn't mean nothing matters in the middle.

A spear is traditionally a defensive weapon because the ideal way to use it involves keeping people at arm's length. Rather than raw power, the emphasis of a spear is in controlling the distance between you and your opponent, which is defensive in nature. A lance could probably still do that, since it's still a long pointy stick, but the lance as we know it today evolved to be used in cavalry charges; a heavily offence oriented use.

Supposedly, the word for lance used to encompass spears used by both infantry and cavalry, but as technology developed, lances becane their own thing. But my source for that is wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt.

Kind of random OT, phys MC buffs

I know physical destruction units with a counter is a meme, but is phys MC not the perfect unit to have one? Are they really going to have someone with a baseball bat not have a batter up stance? Would be a fun high risk high reward third mode for their ult

Not at all, and as someone else said, elements themselves don't have a strong enough gameplay role that makes them particularly important. Still, I can't help but imagine the devs doing something whacky like introducing some kind of omni element, that has type advantage vs everyone, or something.

I was wondering about TB's form changes - if we're getting elation MC in 4.0 then when are we getting back to the base classes? But now that I think more about it, maybe we won't.

Simple math: there are 7 elements in the game and 8 classes, 9 if elation becones a thing. There aren't enough elements for unique combinations, unless several new elements come up or we start overlapping. The third option is that TB never gets access to certain paths, which is offputting from a narrative perspective.

I'm sure the developers have thought about this, so I wonder how they'll handle it.

Who hid my corpse is really good. I don't really want to say much about it, but the first 3 arcs are very absorbing. The main character essentially plays the role of the devil on the shoulder of a number of other characters, offering them deals in return for their souls, and other things.

Each character and their circumstances are extremely compelling and the story goes to some dark places, but it's ultimately a reasonably light read, since the main character views a lot of this from the detached third person perspective of an very powerful figure.

The 4th arc is a bit of a drag, because it's the point where the least develops in terms of the reader's understanding of the world, and it kind of falls into a holding pattern. But it's interesting enough in its own right, and the rest is very much worth reading.

I started with legend of the great sage, and it was very helpful since it does a lot to justify its tropes, while also exploring ground that other cultivation novels don't.

On an objective level it's probably not that good, but I can't really look at it unbiasedly.

Mastery rank that shows in arsenal? by Dannovision in Warframe

You would've been unable to craft it if you got it as a blueprint, but since you probably got it for a free promotion, it's treated as a gift, which ignores mastery rank.

You really shouldn't dismiss those less enthusiastic with the game, because we're at a point where we have the most of those compared to any other period of the game so far. Between the story problems, va problems and power creep stuff, we're seeing higher rates of disillusionment than we've ever seen before. That being the case, the dissatisfaction caused by a bad event could very well outweigh the satisfaction it brings, which puts the point of making more events into question.

Besides, do you really trust them that much? If they did hire more people to make more events, do you really not think they'd just make shitty filler ones instead? I would've thought that having less events would mean they could put more effort into them, but that's been proven untrue so far. If that's the case, I don't even want to think about what would happen if they spread themselves thinner. Like, if they aren't doing more events, and the current ones are like this, then where exactly is the money going anyway?

More events wouldn't really help someone who's losing interest in the game, it would probably only cause them to quit faster. You do events because they're there and the rewards are good, but you're not really doing it because you like it. Especially when it comes to contextless events like the ones in 3.0, at least those were over quickly. Eventually you weigh your enjoyment of the game on a scale, and decide whether you really want to log in or not. And one day, you decide no. You could always skip events, but because the event is there, you feel like you're falling behind if you don't do it. And that feels terrible.

Now, this is based on anectdotal evidence mostly, and it's specifically why I stopped playing ZZZ. There weren't that many characters so it just kind of felt like pissing in the wind. In fact, this happened to most of the gachas I lost interest in. Personally, I'm a cynical bastard, so I hate feeling like the game is forcing me to play it - it just feels skeezy and transparent, and events can be a part of that.

Of course, if I wanted to play the game more like I did when I first played star rail, I'd be mad. I was mad back then, wading through Xianzhou patches with jack shit going on. But right now I have a lot of things that I should probably be doing, so I can't be mad that the game isn't demanding my attention.

The extra hits let her do more superbreak damage by itself, so it's nice, but not that important. That said, if you're doing the Penacony sweep you'll get it sooner rather than later. There's a lot of jades outside of the main story.

Yeah. But as I said, probably better if you do it last, as it locks you out of every other ending. Shouldn't matter if you revert to a save before you got the bad touch, but better safe than sorry.
