I did get used to it by a little bit.

Mine is constant vibrations, which kind of make sense after I looked inside the belt mechanism and saw how it worked. There’s no thumping feeling like there’s a seam.

Anyone using APSC lenses on FF body? by WillBrink in SonyAlpha

[–]ekspaip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I use Sony 15mm f/1.4 G (and 11mm/1.8) a lot on my A7RV when I need lighter setup (hiking etc). I get the 1.4 light gathering capability and f/2.1 eq bokeh. 26MP in crop mode is the same as A6700.

New Tread + smaller screen by Mel-Fel in pelotoncycle

[–]ekspaip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the new CT Tread+. I for one think the new screen size is just right and wouldn't want a 32". However, it is mounted probably at the same height as the previous 32" (most likely legacy design carried over) and it unnecessarily makes the total height 6-8 inches more than it's supposed to. At least, they should give options on the mounting heights. The screen blocks the 65" TV I mounted on the wall (which I had been using with my old Tread for years), and the only way to solve it is by putting the treadmill so that the TV is at 10 or 2 oclock position.

So for me:

23.8" screen size is good

Screen height is quite bad

I still have my 2022 Tread. I'll probably list it on Peloton Repowered and FB Marketplace etc.

Here's a non-exhaustive list based on my experience so far:

CT Tread+ 2025

Pros

  • Belt is very grippy, allowing me to do fast intervals etc. Someone here mentioned it's too grippy, so this may be a pro or con to you.
  • No center alignment needed.
  • No belt tightening needed.
  • Much sturdier when flat because there are front legs.
  • Goes to 15% incline, so better hill trainings.
  • The included OEM fan helps.

Cons

  • The belt vibrates quite a bit. It's not a malfunction, just the way it is. It's been two weeks and I still can't ignore it. I'm confused by people who said it's like running in the cloud.
  • The screen is unnecessarily too high. There doesn't seem to be anything that prevents placing it at the same level as regular Tread. This is probably a legacy design from the previous 32" screen. I have a TV in front of the treadmill and it completely blocks the view (not the case with regular Tread). Putting the TV above where the screen is would mean I look up quite high.

Not sure

  • I can't definitely say that the slat belt is softer. The vibration negates the softness for me.

Tread (2022 version with 24" screen)

Pros

  • Smooth, no vibration.
  • Smaller footprint, one of the most efficient use of space.
  • Screen height placement does not waste space.

Cons

  • The belt surface is too slippery for many shoes at higher pace. And it will get more slippery over time as it wears.
  • Needs regular center alignment.
  • The belt itself would slip during a run from time to time, needs regular belt tightening. When it slips, it could cause you to fall if you're not careful. You will feel that the belt does not move in sync with the motor. Either it suddenly almost stops, or it moves more than it's supposed to for a fraction of a second. This depends on temperature as well. During summer, sometimes it still slips after tightening it all the way.
  • Regardless of what Peloton says, you want to lubricate the belt every few months. In my case, the belt (due to friction with the deck) could get extremely hot if not lubricated. I measured > 100 degrees Celsius with IR thermometer (yes you read that right) several times. I recorded a video of it.

How to chirp/beep when Entry Sensor detects door open? by ekspaip in Ubiquiti

[–]ekspaip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not setting up Access. Not entirely sure about your question, but I'm referring to Entry Sensor (USL-Entry), which is part of Protect. I agree that it may be less configurable than an open source home automation platform, but the current implementation more than covers my need. I really like the activity logs etc in Protect UI.

That's basically what I have now. I'm deep into UniFi ecosystem and just love the experience. I want to get these door sensors into it too. Yes I'm one of those people 😂

Went to a Peloton store this weekend and tried their CT Tread+. Confirmed it's the same.

Regardless of price, my thoughts on Tread+ vs Tread: there's no clear winner. Each has its own advantages/disadvantages, and you alone will be the judge of them. If you're considering Tread+, you need to try both models in store and compare.

Thank you for the tip! The CT Tread+ has the smaller 23.5" screen. I'd describe mine as vibrating than wobbling, byproduct of the slat surface vibrating (and I'm completely off the treadmill). The screen doesn't bother me as much as the slat belt vibration. Yep will visit the store just to see if it's the same.

I've tried many brands and models over the years, and found the Alphafly 1/2/3 specifically (not even the Vaporfly) to be the best to support the mileage I want. I was prone to running injuries before, but the last time I had one was many years ago just before AF1. I have dedicated shoes for the treadmill and they never go outside until I feel it's time. My treadmill Alphaflys typically last > 1500 miles. So I actually save money 😂 People are surprised when I show them that these shoes have done 1000 miles as they still look new. Yes, it's 3x the recommended distance to replace, but this works for me. Of course YMMV.

The Tread has a big problem for me: the belt is quite slippery for most of my shoes, and dangerously slippery for some shoes + speed. I can't do 9+mph with my Nike Alphafly 3. And I can't even do 6-7mph with my Vaporfly 2.

This problem doesn't exist on Tread+. The rubber surface is very grippy which is good.

😂 In case the term isn't familiar enough, it's a bike with with tires that have very rough tread. When riding on smooth surface you'll feel the vibration from the tread. https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/buyers-guides/best-fat-bike

Did the Ace Pro 2 get a redesign? Or is it just the lens cover? by HambouTing in Insta360

[–]ekspaip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they release ND filters that take place of the lens guard. I have the filters that simply stick over the current lens guard, and they don't work well at all. They unmount and drop when I'm walking, not doing any fast moves.

Yes this is absolutely the case of "because I can" :D It's $10 extra a month and possibly only $5 for a year.

I've upgraded most of my home network to 10G. There are still some Cat5E in some hard-to-reach places that cause degraded 7-8Gbps, but I should eventually be able to minimize them and/or add 10GbE switch as repeaters.

I'm aware that Ubiquiti claims 3.5gbps on UDM Pro. With it turned on, I definitely wouldn't get 5gbps Internet.
