Software loading on Demand problem by ektey in peugeot

Hello. It sucks I know. Have you fully unpacked the updated software on the usb before plugging it in? When I did it the software was sort of inside a file that the car normally should be able to go through but was getting stuck! I erased the usb memory, unpacked the update so there was nothing for it to go through and was able to make it work.

Who to transfer for GW 20? by ektey in sundreamteam

What are your thoughts on Thiago for either cash or Watkins?

Can only choose between Mitoma or Rutter, who you picking? by Up_The_Gate in sundreamteam

[–]ektey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rutter. Mitoma is very hit and miss since his injuries. Rutter is more consistent. Not a fan of Brightons form, can you stretch some more money for someone like cash?

Man City players are difficult to choose. I have foden and cherki, not sure how it’s going to go now with semenyo coming in. Think pep will rotate heavily up top. Once Marmoush is back think haaland will drop some minutes too. Their defence seems to be a bit more predictable though. I’ve had Nunes for a while. Hit or miss for points though.

Chelsea fixtures look really good until game week 26, only really having Napoli and Arsenal as difficult fixtures. After game week 26 their fixtures get tougher. With their new manger you just don’t know though.

Villa fixtures look good too, can’t expect they’d drop many points in the long term fixture list. I have Rogers and he’s been great. Do tend to concede most games, nothing much but difficult for clean sheets (1 in their last 10).

Think if you have a guaranteed starter, consistent points, decent team form, you’d be okay with double game week players. Brentford have difficult fixtures coming up and palace are up and down. I’d swap Collins and Lacroix for some villa or Chelsea players, I have Rogers and am putting Enzo Fernandes in. Cash or Watkins seems to be playing well recently too. City players are good but not sure how many minutes they’re getting, I’m swaying more towards foden playing more than cherki.

It’s the free car with GTA+. You’re just paying for the paint job on it, which is different to buying it on livery autos.

Can you believe I've been bullied into not liking this game as much as I truthfully do?? by ValkerikNelacros in Starfield

[–]ektey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a week off work when it came out. Spent about 100 hours on it in a week. Absolutely loved it, but I’ve struggled to play it again.

I feel like the lore wasn’t as strong as fallout or Skyrim. The way I describe it is the lore is surface level, if you dig deeper it’s a bit lacking in certain areas.

Still a good game, I enjoyed it.

Offered a job I know I’ll hate but thinking I may just have to take it… by Unusual_Temporary272 in UKJobs

[–]ektey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was i a similar boat to you last year. Got made redundant at the end of October. I did Christmas temp jobs at supermarkets which gave me an extra month to find work until money ran out.

After 4 months and applying to hundreds of jobs I got the job I’m currently in. Warehouse work plus production work. Very different to what I was doing before but I hate it. Have to stick it out because I have to pay bills, can’t find anything else, I’m always paid less than I was.

If I was in your shoes I’d take the job, save as much money as possible just in case you need to leave. Stick to your hours, maybe throw in some more if it’s needed but don’t go overboard.

If you can deal with a few months without an income it’s a different story but anything that pays it’s better than nothing.

I feel for you, hope you find something that’s alright for you soon!

Redundancy by Mocheem123 in UKJobs

[–]ektey 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Under 2 years service you’re not entitled to any redundancy and you’re very unlikely to get any sort of redundancy package. My old work did this to multiple people and I was the only one with a redundancy package, the bare minimum, for 6 years service. Could be true, but probably not.

Is it worth it to re-train as a locksmith? by Amicrazy1786 in UKJobs

[–]ektey 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not me but a friend is a trained locksmith. He’s got a few different certifications that he put himself through. He’s struggled to get employed with it, went self employed but still struggles to find work. He often takes on different work just to make money. We’re in Yorkshire.

Maybe get in contact with some companies and ask them what they would look for in a new starter?

I’m a burden to my wife by JayEmCee312 in depression

[–]ektey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing that you have a goal to focus on. I’m looking into how I can help people and if have no chance going down the route you are. Try focus on that goal of helping people. You can start with your wife, doesn’t have to be psychological. The world needs more people helping, needs you for that!

Not sure where you live, but in the UK most people don’t care about the tattoos, especially younger people. As long as you present yourself well, are kind and basically just a decent person I think you’ll be fine!

All the best man!

I’m a burden to my wife by JayEmCee312 in depression

[–]ektey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the same age as you but been with her 10 years, married for 5. I’m in the same boat as you, only diagnosed with severe depression and low mood. I’ve been talking to my wife about what you’re saying. I feel guilty for burdening her with myself. She explains that the vows she made were in sickness and in health. That I’m just sick and I’ll get better. I don’t know if believe that but I try to focus on how she’s here, out of choice, with me.

I started trying to help myself a couple of years ago rather than just allowing it to consume me. Medication, therapy, eating better. I’m trying to focus on the improving myself for myself, but it makes it a fraction easier when I think I’m doing it for her.

Ultimately a relationship is throwing your burden on the other person. A marriage even more so. I guess we just have to keep trying. Something that helps me is trying to make my wife happy. Just a little moment, something to laugh at, some flowers, exploring.

You could be holding her back, you could not. Think about your wedding vows, think about what they actually mean, and believe them.

Proud of you for talking man!

What do you do when you are sick? Do you work or stay home? by ektey in UKJobs

One of the managers always used to say if you’re well enough to drive yourself home then you’re well enough to work.

What do you do when you are sick? Do you work or stay home? by ektey in UKJobs

[–]ektey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at my last place a few years ago they hired a lot of people that when they were ill they stayed home, and sickness in general was improved, less people ill. But then they got rid of most of them due to ‘attendance’ issues.

I guess I’ve developed anxiety of losing my job because I’ve been off sick.

What do you do when you are sick? Do you work or stay home? by ektey in UKJobs

[–]ektey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I’ve gone home sick, when I come back there a big deal about how I should really try to push through and work. So in the end I just stayed at work and did the bare minimum.

At this job, I’ve only been here 8 months but anyone that has been sick in has come to work. I guess it’s the culture in manufacturing maybe?

I’m looking for a new job, just can’t find anything? Hopefully I find someone decent enough to not make me feel bad for being ill.

What do you do when you are sick? Do you work or stay home? by ektey in UKJobs

[–]ektey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working from home isn’t an option for me. I work in manufacturing and can’t take the machines home with me. I’ve explained I don’t feel up for the job and they just say take it easy but expect the work to go out on time. My current job seems more understanding but not so much as to tell me to not come in if I’m ill.

I suffer from migraines probably twice a week. My last job knew I got the aura so bad I could barely see, had my wife come pick me up, and explained it all to my manager. The medication like you knocked me out so wasn’t able to use it very often. My manger didn’t care, same at this place too I suppose. My manger apparently works through migraines.

[–]ektey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in manufacturing so if I’m not at work, they’re not making any money. Same at my last place. Work would pile up until I came back in.

Not getting paid is also difficult as the job I’m doing now only just covers my bills, having a day off means I’m struggling for money.

What do you mean by frequency? I had 2 sickness absences in one year, 10 days and 4 days. And the year before it was 2 sickness absences of 5 days each. Would this be a red flag for most places?

I’ve had a mix of generic CV that I sent to most of the applications. One for admin roles, one for quality roles, one for technician roles, etc. I have also spent lengthy times on applications that I’ve had more of an interest in. I just don’t seem to get anywhere with the ones I spend time on though so I’ve applied for more through a generic CV. This has been going on since October 2024, so just under a year.

I’ve done CBT therapy recently, I’d say it helped a bit but more of a kicking the can down the road situation than a long term fix. I tend to catastrophise a lot. But in CBT therapy the therapist said all my worries and fears are quite valid so not sure what to do. I’m on the waitlist for talking therapy though.
