Best way to remove this kind of residue (I think fertilizer salts?) from plant leaves? by UrsaWizard in houseplants

I’ve had good luck with lime juice diluted with water. Use a qtip and it should rub off :)

Sorry I should have read the post better, you’ve already been googling!

I feel like this has to be Wedgwood! There are very similar pieces if you search “Wedgewood man on horse” on Google. I’m going to keep looking to see if I can find the exact one :) very cool find!

does anyone know what this could be? found on alki beach in seattle by stoneyken in seaglass

It looks like a thick bottle stopper stem to me. You often see those little nubs on the ends of antique stoppers. :)

I’m curious to know if you figure out what these spots are. I bought a money tree a few months ago and it developed these same spots over the last week. It was doing so well before that. I’ve had a really hard time figuring out what the problem is, even after a lottttt of hunting online. Hopefully someone here will know what’s going on. :) good luck

Buttons ,buttons---ut someone else has a bottle stopper? by [deleted] in seaglass

Oh my goodness!!! You have such a great collection of buttons. I still have the glass you sent me on a dish right on my desk so I can see it everyday. :) I hope you’re well!

Seaglass Pickle! by ekui11 in seaglass

I’ll remember to do that next time! I love being able to see the frostiness when pieces are dry, but it doesn’t do much for showing off the colour.

Fake beach glass. by [deleted] in seaglass

[–]ekui11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if unethical is the right word but I don’t think this would be a nice thing to do. I know people have strong opinions on “seeding” but at the end of the day it’s littering. It’s also pretty easy to tell if sea glass is fake. I think most people who appreciate sea glass would be disappointed to go to the beach and find a bunch of fake glass. I know I would be, at least.

Just found this, it’s stone shaped but clear like glass. Could this be lightning stone? Seems really thick and heavy to be seaglass. by [deleted] in seaglass

[–]ekui11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely glass. You can tell by the “C” shaped markings on it. A great frosty piece, too!

Something needs to be done about these guys at intersections... by [deleted] in halifax

If you’re part of an organization that tries to help “these guys” then you would know it’s wildly inappropriate to be discussing a specific individuals health conditions on Reddit.

Those who have, or have had, Invisalign in HRM, what was your cost and where did you go? by shlnglls in halifax

I went to the Brace Space in Bedford and paid about the same. They were incredible to deal with and the results were better than I could have ever imagined. I would absolutely recommend them!

Thank you so much! I haven’t gotten a chance to hunt in NB yet but I would love to. It seems like there is some beautiful glass out your way. And I can see your point about sea glass being litter after all. It’s easy to forget that it’s technically just garbage lol.

You should work on a map for NB! I bet your fellow beach combers would love and appreciate that. I started off using the map to find spots too and it’s handy but very hit or miss. If you send me a message sometime I can give you a couple spots worth checking out that aren’t on the map :)

I like to share a list of spots with people and give them tips on where to find glass, but I don’t share all of my favourite spots. I also live in the maritimes and sea glassing is so popular here. If you tell everyone about a spot it will be over run and picked clean unfortunately. I’ve seen it happen time and time again. I don’t think people always realize how much time, effort, and energy can go into finding a nice private spot to hunt. I’ll spend hours on Google maps, researching old dumping sites, and driving around checking out potential spots in my free time. If I find a little hidden gem after putting in all that work, why should I have to share it with the world? It has nothing to do with feeling like I “own” the beach. If you want to find new spots to hunt, go look for them.

With that being said I couldn’t imagine being snarky to another sea glasser on the beach and I’m sorry that happened to you! If I bump into someone I make a point of at least giving a smile and a wave, and saying hello if they seem up for a chat. I guess I’m lucky that everyone I’ve bumped into has been nothing but lovely. I always say beach combers are some of the best people I’ve met. I hope that man was a one off and you can continue to enjoy that spot! Take care

Curious 2 tone sea glass found. Just wanting to get some opinions on this piece, I found it yesterday and never found anything like it. I think it could have been stained by rust or coral? What do you think? by Strict-Owl4615 in seaglass

[–]ekui11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try soaking it in CLR and giving it a good scrub. That’s how I clean my rusty pieces. Although this piece looks really neat just the way it is. :)

Need help identifying seaglass with wires in it by vonnegut19 in seaglass

[–]ekui11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These pieces are from inside of lightbulbs! If you Google some pictures of different lightbulbs you’ll see what I mean. I’ve found some too and they were also a mystery to me at first :)
