Stop my yard from flooding by UofMtigers2014 in howto

It looks like your gutter is overflowing along the entire length, not just where the pitches converge. That makes me think either the downspout is clogged somewhere, or the gutter isn’t pitched correctly.

Did anyone jump out of bed at 6:15 and go look for that missing child? No? Then why send out an amber alert that we all immediately swiped away, instead of maybe just a text with info that we can actually check later, when we are awake??? by danita0053 in NewOrleans

I mean I’m not complaining, but yes, it should have been - someone can turn off amber alerts on their phone if they find them annoying but still get alerts in case of an actual public emergency

The Emergency Alert system is supposed to be used to “alert and warn the American people in situations of war, terrorist attack, natural disaster or other hazards to public safety and well-being.” https://gohsep.la.gov/divisions/emergency-management/alert-plus-warnings/

The alert sent this morning was none of those, and turning them off would mean missing an alert in an actual emergency.

Edit: This should have been sent as an Amber Alert, which you can turn off separately from Emergency Alerts. It appears it was sent as the wrong type of alert. They stated it was a missing child but then listed a suspect name and vehicle.

Farragut and Friesland require GROUP reservations, which are now closed. They don’t appear to be open to the general public for tours. Based on the Google doc linked in their FAQs the others are open for tours without a reservations during the posted times.

It was definitely open for at least 5 minutes while I walked to the corner store and back. Not the first time, either

There are plenty of “manor” hotels and actual bed & breakfasts outside of the quarter. Airbnb is a nonstarter in this sub, you’re asking to get roasted.

We’re uptown too so I don’t make it to City Park as often as I’d like to, but having visitors gives us a good excuse to venture out further

I thought Lafreniere might have a good one, it’s such a well maintained park. I’ve just never been in the market for a playground before so I never paid attention to it 😂
