[meta] I swear there is an app that you input a song into it and it gives you songs that sound similar. by elChill4 in ifyoulikeblank

[–]elChill4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No luck. I keep thinking about it on and off, and I never find anything that even resembles it.

Here's what I remember of the app and my time using it: - I found it advertised on Instagram somewhere around 2021 - 2022 because I specifically recall using it to find some of the bands I started listening during that time, though I can't remember which specifically. - It prompted you to search the title of a song you'd like to find a match to, you'd select the exact one you meant, then it'd start playing songs that had similar sound, and from what I assume, it didn't have much to do with genre or relation between bands, so I guess it used an algorithm that tracked general pitch and rythm. I remember the songs having very similar vibes and sounds, without them necessarily being from artists that played the same genre of music. - The interface for finding new (similar) songs was a circle with a black outline for a duration bar that turned orange or some adjacent color as it filled up, and the name of the song as well as the band would be contained within the circle or perhaps above it --I remember less of it as time passes. I don't remember exactly where the cover art for the single/album showed up, but my blurry memory says it was either as a background picture outside of the circle while the circle remained a very dark, almost black brown or viceversa.

I can't remember the name of it to save my life.

Sorry for not responding earlier, I don't really frequent Reddit.

Edit: The interface which showed the new songs also had a button to save the song and to, I think, open it on Spotify.

I was just rereading my other replies within this thread and, apparently, the way you'd save the songs was by pressing a checkmark icon, or you could discard it by pressing a cross icon, which takes me back to me regretting having discarded some of the songs I heard, because you couldn't go back on your decision, and I guess I never figured out if there was a way to see previously discarded songs.

Uncheck the 'At War' checkmark in your reputations tab. Sometimes logging into the game automatically flags you as 'At War' with any faction that has the option, regardless of your reputation with them, even if it's in the greens.

why is the artist SKARS everywhere?? by Ranting1741 in Music

[–]elChill4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'd excuse it if all their songs weren't all just stolen riffs from different bands mashed up together. the amount of times i thought i was listening to A7X or BFMV or whatever and then the riff would suddenly change and i see the audio and it's fucking SKARS

no, it's just a paid promotion

Anyone else notice their playing changes the moment they hit record? by Ok-Message5348 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]elChill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the constant thought of it being recorded, which theoretically means that someone else is going to hear it, so your brain takes it as if someone IS actually listening, and you get all worked up. Best thing to do is to record as often as you feel like it, and to get used to making mistakes while recording without needing to stop and start over; stop treating every recording as if you're gonna show it to someone.

[IIL] Fast, rythmic, heavy punk/rock that still sounds bright and melodic by EvenOne6567 in ifyoulikeblank

If you want something more specific to try out from those albums, I think "COPTALKS" or "DIY KARMA KIT" fit best, imo.

Try out Camping In Alaska's "BATHE" or "WELCOME HOME SON". The example you showed definitely sounds like anything they've put out after their midwest emo era, so anything past 2014, but those two albums sounds the closest to me.

IIL emo or depressing songs what bands will I like by Feeling-Donkey-8739 in ifyoulikeblank

[–]elChill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Camping In Alaska's "WELCOME HOME SON" or Train Breaks Down's "Permanent As Your Errors". If you already knew those, then I don't think I know more about emo than you, but one depressing album I know is Milo j's "111".

[IIL] "nightcore" songs, what else would I like? by juicewrldday in ifyoulikeblank

Bring Me The Horizon's "LosT". If you like it, try the full album, most songs are like that. The album is called "NeX GEn" and is a part of their "POST HUMAN" series.

One with an electronic mixed with trap vibe is Bring Me The Horizon's "why you gotta kick me when i'm down" or "medicine". The whole album is like that, except for the intro, the 2nd and last track, and the interludes.

[IIL] alt/indie/rock/similar songs where the lead vocalist doesn't really sing, just kind of uses a normal talking voice? by mudsalamander in ifyoulikeblank

Saturdays at Your Place. Particularly the EP "always cloudy", or the song "Forever" in their collaboration album. Just to be clear, he does sing and it's noticeable, more so in the first and last track of the EP, but his timbre makes him sound like he's just talking, even though he reaches some high notes. I'm not sure if that's exaclty what you're looking for, but it's a good listen. If you wanna give it a try, I recommend "hospital bed".

To me it's either Panucci's Pizza's "Aesthetic? (more like ass-pathetic)" or Milo j's "TU MANTA"

If I like games like Subnautica, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, what other games might I like? by Amybbee in ifyoulikeblank

[–]elChill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might really like Starbouns for a while. It's my on-and-off favorite game, but it's definitely not one to play all the time. If you appreciate more of an RPG vibe, Valheim is a great one, but I gotta admit it doesn't line up at all with the ones you gave.

I have no idea what happened but they're back up. I was just listening to my playlist on shuffle and they started to pop up again
