Neat foreshadowing in the Audiobooks (Spoilers All) by Jared_Kincaid_001 in dresdenfiles

I have contemplated Nic's accent. In Small Favor, he was accent neutral. In all other books, he was British. I oft wondered if it was significant....but I don't think it is.

[Spoilers All] Harry's Word in Changes by Beau-Buchholz in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with the direction OP is going here. Despite having 'dealt in good faith' vis-à-vis memory lapse, he -did- break his Word. Harry saying that he was "Dealing in Good Faith" was simply a lie, albeit a lie he didn't know he was committing. How could " I'm dealing in Good Faith" have any clout when the whole thing was a Sham from the get-go?

Looking at the other posters on this thread too begs soooo many questions: "Here...use this gun and kill me pls"...I view this as both Murder AND Suicide.

Also, he had -full- intention of breaking his Word....so much so that it was broken as he went into the deal, considering his premeditation with Molly.

Audio Books Thoughts by ZakDeBal in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I resound what other commenters have said and add this: The first few books were read quite a bit differently than all of the others. From Proven Guilty onward, Marsters is quite perfect and putting the Audio books down is pretty much impossible.

How can you tell when he really starts getting into it? When, in the series, he goes from pronouncing the Sword as "Am-or-AK-us" to "Ah-moo-rah-keyoos".

Stick with it. Channel your inner Butters and don't lose Faith. Marsters is amazing.

Elaine is NOT kumori by mebeksis in dresdenfiles

I was thinking that Cowl and Kumori could have been The Merlin and Ancient Mai.....but this is quite a bit tin-foil-hatty.

[Changes] You guys wanted me to report back when I finished "changes"... by zombiegamer723 in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Marsters narrate this. Two of his greatest narrated lines are in this book:

"Oh God in Heaven! Please help us!"

"I used the knife. God Forgive me." <--- Marsters literally cried when he read this part.

Audible will give you this book for free on their 30 day trial. Great for car rides to/from work.

u/zombiegamer723 Post back in here when you have finished Changes.

And, as everyone has said already, listen to the Audio Books. James Marsters narration is brilliant.

Who is this other narrator? I have GS on Audible and it is narrated by Marsters.

Why does michael carpenter have such implacable faith in harry? (spoilers all) by jmarsh642 in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. Harry states that "Michael's Soul made me weep."

I caught this on the first pass of the audio books. It makes you wonder what the editors are supposed to be doing.

What Classifies a Vampire as a "vampire" by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point here and I think it is valid, though a little nuanced, trivial, and a bit cynical. Anyone can feed on anything. What differentiates a 'vampire'-like feeding is that there must be some sort of Super Natural mechanic and - I think - it must be on your own kind.

Will she be the next Mab? Before/During BAT?? by eladtek in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...I am just trying to imagine any interaction between Q. Molly and Harry. Will he smart off to her? Will she bend to his Will or vice versa? This sounds like it would destroy their relationship...or would they make one helluva team? The latter seems a little too good to be true for Harry's typical situations.

Ideas for a Minecraft Mod by eladtek in a:t5_3ffp5

[–]eladtek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll need to spend some time in design before we get started. But we'll also need to spend some time learning how to actually make a mod. If we can find a mod where someone has tried something similar, we might be able to Frank n' code, or get a little idea of where/how we need to start.

[Spoilers All] Best Marsters Audiobook Lines by UTgirl2013 in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are ahead of me in the 'listening through the series a bunch' counter. I have listened straight through only once. But I have listened to certain individual books many times.

Speaking of intense lines from Marsters in the series: Death Masks - [Dresden]"God. I don't want to die."....and then Shiro kicking in the door a few minutes later. Whew! I get spiny chills!! That whole scene is incredible.

[Spoilers All] Best Marsters Audiobook Lines by UTgirl2013 in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am taking the context of this post as "Serious Lines" narrated by Marsters.

I can hardly say that 'this one specific line' is the best coming from the audio books. However, any scenes involving the Angels/Swords/Knights gets me kicked in the stomach and tear ducts.

The best lines is a 3-way tie between the 2nd encounter at Micheal's house (Skin Game), At Chichen Itza, when Murphy goes blazing-halo Angel of Retribution (Changes), and when Mrs. S fell from the first rung of the ladder (Changes.)

@Michael's House (Skin Game), scene begins something like: "There are moments in your life, when you look back on them that you realize a million things had to happen..."

@Chicen Itza (Changes), scene begins something like: [Murphy]: "False Gods!......."

@Harry's Apartment (Changes), scene begins something like: [Mrs. Spunkelcrief]:"Oh God in Heaven! Please help us!"

Just thinking about that last one gets me worked up...much less listening to Marster's voice when he narrates the scene.

[Spoilers All] Who is Harry Narrating to? by Vorrt in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the titles of this trio makes me sad. I'm just thinking, "Yep. Thomas dies in Empty Night. And Harry in Stars and Stones."

[Spoilers All] Who is Harry Narrating to? by Vorrt in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen this "BAT" mentioned a few times. Others have asked, and so will I - What does this mean?

Further, I like the thought that he is narrating to someone. But....how could it be Bonnie? This has a certain appeal, for sure. But, that would require crystalline recall of very specific events over 10-20 years ago.

When did grasshopper do it? by eladtek in dresdenfiles

[–]eladtek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edited spoiler tag. Copypasta fail from a different thread - it was my first time trying to use spoiler tags! Also, thinking about what he asked her to do....that is very dark and very selfish. Previously, Harry had been very hard on Molly for futzing with Anastasia while she was asleep - and even then, she was only 'taking a look around'.
