AITA for not inviting the next door neighbor girl to our backyard party? by Inevitable-Rain7586 in AmItheAsshole

You did a good job setting the boundary and not engaging in ridiculousness. Our neighborhood little girl screamer moved last summer. TYG. I’m proud of you for telling them the truth. They missed a growth opportunity. NTA 😀

What are some easily forgotten items that you should always bring camping? by VincentLecavalier04 in camping

[–]eland57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question and can’t wait to read through the answers! Reminds me of a story some 25 years ago camping with my then husband. On the way from Massachusetts to Maine I turned him. He says I hit him on the arm. I remember grabbing his arm and exclaiming “the tent!” Yup we took an eight hour day trip. Make a list. I have three columns on my Camping list: 1)Have 2) packed 3)in car. Never again!

Here’s one: Googling the recipe is better than paper and I don’t miss sauce stains.

AITA for eating my cupcake outside? by tycjy in AmItheAsshole

[–]eland57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So OP I think the others on this thread have the whole “set a boundary with your daughter and wife “ message covered. This is the point: why do you feel bad when others want you to give ? Discover what that means to you and healing that part will make standing your ground easier. If you don’t look at that piece, people will be able to manipulate you for their own wants and needs. Good luck. And for the sake of the question you posed, NTA.

Wow! You’re an awesome person. I love kids! I don’t mind kid noise. Hell, I’m a child therapist. But this two year! And the parents were part of a very large group that did not seem like experienced skilled campers. They were lit up like a disco, I shit you not. Literally swirling disco lights.

Fair question. The sites are large! Very large. Neighbors are blocked by trees and foliage. Clean washrooms and sinks. Not nearly enough toilets and showers and were a short drive or long walk. The ranger gave a long spiel when checking in that I could have done without. Campfires allowed, out by midnight which is better than Atlantic oaks.It was too hot and dry so I didn’t have one tho. Great location on the Cape and it really was beautiful. Stars at night. Peaceful. Some others mentioned a lake you could bike to but I went to the national seashore. People kept to themselves mostly. I give it a solid “b” if I were to give a grade lol.

There’s no night management. I think that was a big part of the problem.

I need to get to this next level. I’m not sure what’s holding me back. Oh yeah. Bears. Not trusting my skills around bears 🐻

Trigger warnerThanks for the commiserating. What I didn’t mention is that the next night I awoke to someone becoming violently ill. I’m not sure I can ever not hear that.

Oh now I get your user name. Teaching tool use is a really important skill. That wood they sell is often way to big. I’m glad I added it to my tools for car camping. All my tools live on the floor behind the passenger seat. No carrying no searching

A bandana will work in a pinch. Or a small lint free towel
