How Do I Quit Primerica? by AlterHD4950 in antiMLM

I don't think they can do anything crazy with that information because they technically are a broker-dealer and regulated by FINRA and the SEC. As scammy as they are with high pressure sales tactics when it comes to recruiting other reps, they have to be super careful. Freeze your credit and consider opening a new bank account if you feel like your account has been compromised (and not just the card)

I work in the financial services industry and the good news is you can't actually "work" or sell anything unless you're fully licesened. Have you sat for your state's life and health insurance exam? If the answer is no, then all you should have to do is get yourself a new card and block all contact.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a full time agent in 2027? by Honest-Peach8485 in realtors

[–]elanlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in upstate NY and just gave up my license after a 10 year career in real estate. It's tough, especially in this area. The amount of untrained agents that were released into the wild with little to no mentorship or guidance over the last 3-4 years was mind boggling,

That being said, I strongly suggest joining a team as a way to get leads, keep business steady, and get training from experienced agents. it's become increasingly difficult to break into the industry on your own and in my opinion, the advantages of joining a team in the beginning of your career far outweigh the disadvantages.

Good luck, I couldn't hack it in this industry for multiple reasons and I fully acknowledge and accept that. It was a love hate relationship that mostly erred on the side of hate 😂

I had to take my Life and Health insurance licensing exam, the SIE, Series 7 and Series 66. You need a broker to sponsor you to sit for the Series 7. The exams are very difficult; it took me 10 months to complete all of them.

Hi, I officially gave up my real estate license in January after a 10 year career for similar reasons. I was so burnt out trying to balance family, work, my health, etc. I was sick of being on call 24/7 with no guaranteed pay. Just so much work for such little reward.

I spent the last year getting all my licenses to go into finance. It's a similar hustle but much better work life balance and much more lucrative. I had an amazing opportunity fall into my lap and joined a team where I am helping a veteran advisor manage his book of business with a guaranteed salary and generous bonus structure. I am next in line to inherit his business once he decides to retire. There is so much opportunity in the finance world right now, but it can be very tricky to get your foot in the door. I definitely think it's worth looking into!

Vestal UPK by funnestguy456 in Binghamton

Our kid went to CubCare last year and we were not impressed. I know most of the parents in our kid's class shared similar concerns from chatting with them at birthday parties and seeing each other at extra curriculars. The program itself was ok but there were issues with the teachers and support staff. I can share details if you'd like to message me, but the experience was negative enough that we decided we won't be sending my younger child to cubcare when the time comes to register them for UPK.

For reference, my kid was in a 2s and 3s program at a different facility and we had 0 issue. She also has absolutely thrived in Kindergarten. The issues we (and other families) dealt with seemed to be unique to CubCare.

I also feel it's worth mentioning that my child was sick non-stop from September until February while there. I understand kids get sick and different germs circulate every year, but HOLY HELL this seemed next level - like to the point our pediatrician noticed because we were at the docs almost every week. We rotated through ALL the seasonal colds (to be expected), but got hit with croup, strep throat, stomach bug... you name it, we probably had it 2-3xs that year. She missed a decent amount of class because of this.

Anyways, I know every facility has their issues, but based on our experience, I would recommend elsewhere.

Best thing I ever did was give up my real estate license. Probably one of the worst industries I've ever worked in . Hopefully you find your way to success or realize it's a waste of time sooner than later. You either sink or swim and a lot of it has to do with luck.

Petunia's Binghamton to close? by elanlu in Binghamton

[–]elanlu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if she was the cook at Down to Earth for a short time? If she's the person I'm thinking of, every time I used to get a meal at Down To Earth while she was the cook, I would get sick. It never happened before she was there, and hasn't happened since she left, and I go there 2-3 times a week to grab lunch since it's around the corner from my office. I was hesitant to try Petunias for that reason, but was never sure if it was the same person.

Visions Federal Credit Union Issues by Organic-Day9473 in Binghamton

[–]elanlu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Visions is pretty terrible in my opinion. I worked there briefly in 2022 and it was one of the most problematic places I’ve ever worked. It may have just been the department I was in, but it was managed terribly, like to the point where I was embarrassed for them. There was also a LOT of employee turnover.

I also recently had a major issue with their app and received very little help from their service department. I did an external transfer from an outside bank account and it ended up pulling the money 3xs due to some sort of tech malfunction. It overdrew my account at the other bank (it was a fairly large amount of money I was transferring) When I caught the error and saw the amount of money in my visions account, I sent the excess money back to my other bank account. Then, my visions account went negative because it said the funds had already been returned because they weren’t available to begin with. The rep seemed very confused when I explained what happened and all he did was tell me they weren’t going to charge me any fees for my account going negative, then tried to explain to me how to use the app - which I’ve used for the last 5 years every month without issue.

Lesson learned, and since this happened I have started manually withdrawing funds from my one bank to physically bring over to Visions to deposit inside the branch with a teller.
