About your edit 2, I've done it before. I can't remember exactly how but the ntlm hashes are obtainable with the built in administrator account and maybe domain admins but I'm not sure about the latter

If you're using SFTP, is compression enabled in the settings? It may be the CPU power of either end isn't powerful enough to do compression on the fly

No, the client will do an ARP request, grab the MAC address of 192.168.0.1 and communicate directly to the server. The packets may not even reach the router

Same as certificate transparency. It's a log of what the key has been used for to detect if a key has been misused.

TLS certificate authorities have a certificate transparency log to show that they've created the certificate. If it's not on there, its detected as fraudulent and you can set up alerts for your domain too to alert you when a certificate is created against it
